We were really happy with our stay in Brooklyn Heights, the apartment was full of character, full of Emily's personality, pictures, books and whatnot, lived in, but in a good way. Not at all a neutral rental space, so exactly what we were looking for, a little slice of local for a few days. Emily was very communicative, getting back to us quickly whenever we had a question, and was accommodating to a late departure which really helped us out. All in all we were really pleased with our experience, thanks Emily!
Emily was a fantastic host. Quick to respond and happy to help out with any issues.
The apartment itself was great. Really large and comfortable for a studio and in a fantastic location, close to Brooklyn Promenade and a short subway ride from Manhattan. This apartment is ideal for one or two people wanting an affordable base from which to explore New York.
Great host! Very easy to communicate with. I had a really great time.
I thoroughly enjoyed calling Emily's landmark studio my temporary home while on assignment in New York recently. I got a thrill, first off, just knowing it's a stone's throw from W. H. Auden and Thomas Wolfe's former homes. On top of this, you're just steps away from the Brooklyn Heights promenade, with a beautiful view of Manhattan day and night.
Emily's place is colorful and quirky, full of terrific books and artwork. It's small, but perfect for one person (as was my case).
The only disgruntled feelings I experienced were in relation to the clogged drains in the bathroom (which I remedied during my stay) and overall cleanliness - I was hoping for squeaky clean kitchen counters, a spotless fridge interior, and a well-swept floor, especially around the bedding. But it was a little gnarly in spots and made me wonder what the cleaning fee was for...
Despite the dust bunnies, I had a wonderful stay.
The reservation was canceled 11 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I had a wonderful time at Emilys home. She prepared everything for me to feel comfortable. The area is beautiful and close to the east river. The apartment is like an old american dream. I would come again ; )
Emily's apartment is adorable, full of lovely little well chosen objects and the presence of the owners personality and taste. Anyone interested in writing or the arts will feel right at home among all the books, including many fascinating vintage copies The location is absolutely wonderful--steps from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and an easy walk to Dumbo as well as into downtown Brooklyn. The bed in its little curtained alcove is comfortable and also sort of fun. Overall, a fantastic base for New York explorations.
Emily was easy to work with, the block was peaceful and the building was quite. Great art and books to look at too.
I loved staying at Emily's apartment. It was right in the middle of things, easy walking to everything and a really interesting neighborhood to boot. The apartment itself is really comfortable, a really nice space to hang out surrounded by good books, great paintings, herbs growing on the window sill, a lovely light strewn breakfast table, comfy bed, quirky kitchen ( love the Charles & Diana plates : ) ) and easy functional bathroom. The apartment is high enough to be well above the street & it comes with a lift; very handy when lugging 23 kegs. Emily was very easy to deal with & made my first stay in the states a breeze. I'll be hitting her up next time I'm in town for sure! Thanks Emily
The apartment is ideally located, very comfortable and has lots of personality. When the sun is shining, the big windows let in lots of light and it's a pleasure to walk to meetings in midtown and/or drinks downtown. Emily was gracious and very responsive. I'd happily stay again.
Awesome studio! Made staying in Manhattan feel classy and cool, and thankfully affordable. Emily was a great host and even left me a bottle of wine for the weekend! Would visit again in a heartbeat.
