Hello Friends! The Airbnb is new to me but the idea is not. Back in 1989 I traveled through Europe and Asia via home stays with an organization that promoted getting to know people from other cultures as a way of promoting peace in the world. It was a wonderful experience through which I met fantastic people and got to experience local culture in a way not possible with hotel type stays. I look forward to sharing my beautiful lake home and giving you the opportunity to make the types of memories I still cherish.
After my travels, I was a volunteer teacher at a college in Haiti and then worked for the federal government in Washington, DC for more than 20 years. I recently took an early retirement so I could more fully pursue teaching yoga and am currently studying to be a yoga therapist so I can share the benefits of yoga with people healing from physical or mental ailments. I use the lake home as a retreat for spiritual, mental, and physical renewal and hope to have guests that appreciate this wonderfully healing space. If you need to de-stress from the hectic pace of city life, a few days, weeks, or even months at 'Serenity' could be just what the doctor ordered. The house is a lovely two hour drive from Washington, DC to the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. It is even beautiful here in winter. I love swimming and floating on the lake and doing my yoga and meditation practice on dock, deck, or beach in the warm weather. When I don't have yard work to do, I enjoy a hike in Skyline Drive or taking in the amazing views from the mountaintop road on the other side of the lake. My side is the sunny side of the lake and even in winter you can sit on the front deck and enjoy the warmth of the sun! These are the things I love to do and I am sure you will too!
