I loved staying in Doug's apartment. It was clean, very comfortable, the perfect size for one person (or two!) and had everything that I needed for my business trip to SF. The queen sized bed was ideal (nice and firm) and the water pressure in the bathroom was great. It's on a quiet strip but is a half a block away from some great restaurants and grocery stores.
Doug was a great host and made the check in and check out process seamless. My flight arrived late and graciously checked me in later than we had planned. He also warned me of construction in the building that did not interfere with my stay at all, but I appreciated the heads up and top notch communication.
My parents stayed with Doug and loved his apartment. Doug made sure they were well taken care of, left information and maps of his favorite local places, welcomed them with wine and treats, and made himself available throughout their stay. The apartment is beautiful and very clean - just as described in the posting. The neighborhood is a favorite, close to public transit, Alamo sq. park, and great restaurants on Divisadero Street. They would love to stay again. Thanks Doug!
Excellent apartment in a terrific location. Just steps away from active Divisidero, with the very best restaurants, cafes and shops that S.F. has to offer. And lovely Alamo park is just up the hill. Friendly and very helpful host.
Douglas' bright and clean apartment is in a great location with easy access to the many cafes, restaurants and bars of the lively NOPA neighborhood. Douglas met us on arrival and was very friendly and helpful. Booked on behalf of a friend coming to town and it could not have been more perfect. Thanks Douglas!!
Doug was an excellent host. He made check-in very smooth and accommodated my fluctuating schedule. He was very personable, and met me at his place to let me in and show me around. He made himself easily accessible for any questions that arose. An excellent host.
Doug was a wonderful host. He greeted me at the front gate, made sure to show me all the nuances of the studio (door lock, window closing, etc.) to make me feel more comfortable and even left me a bottle of wine to help me get settled into his place!
The apartment was clean, bright and centrally located to most of my favorite spots in the city. He checked in with me a couple times during my stay to make sure all was well and assured that I should let him know if I needed anything- which was a great feeling.
The only thing I would note to future guests is to bring earplugs. I used to be a city mouse, but my move to a more quiet city made me forget what it was like to live right in front of a major bus line that runs in front of the building. If your a light sleeper, I'd definitely recommend using them!
Thanks Doug- you are a supreme host!
My husband and I felt cozy and at home in this sunny studio in my favorite San Francisco neighborhood. Fussy sleepers will appreciate the bed with its great matress, cotton linens, warm duvet, and soft pillows. The nook in the bay window was a great spot to curl up with a book. The whole place is airy and bright and happy. We loved it. Thanks Doug, for making us feel so welcome and comfortable in your great apartment. I'll be recommending it to my San Francisco bound friends.
Nice flat in a very good area, just next to Alamo park and the painted ladies.
The bus 21 is just in front of the flat and bring you directly in the center.
The BI-RITE market is just around the corner, with very good food ! The flat has a lot of light and is big enough for 2 persons.
We definitely recommend the place to any airbnb users.
Working with Doug was awesome. He was super responsive about check-in/check-out and making sure I was well situated during my stay. His place is in a great location on the edge of a lively but not touristy part of SF (Divisadero St). It's a very comfortable, sunny apartment that is a welcome place to return to after being out all day. In sum, I loved staying at Doug's place and will hopefully do so again when I'm in SF.
Doug's studio is simply beautiful!! a great location in a nice neighbourhood with cute little shops and a great little market around the corner (bi-rite) with great local food and an ice-cream shop that has people waiting in line for it! The studio is very comfortable, clean and airy, has easy access to public transport, is a block away from Alamo square, and is flooded with sun light making it even more inviting. We had a great first visit to San Francisco, which surely was in part thanks to having a great place to come back to after a day of exploring!!
Would definitely recommend staying there!
It was a pleasure to host Doug.
Douglas Hill pre-booked our inexpensive room (2+1 beds). Discussed the details in advance (how to get and how many meet). Therefore, on arrival there were no problems. Unfortunately his friends could not come in the room and he was alone. During the day Douglas Hill had sightseeing and basically came to the hotel in the evening. Number passed on time (In the evening, as agreed) and without any remarks!
We will be happy to see again as guests!
Douglas is a very nice guy! He was also very respectful and clean with the the room and the apartment.
Douglas and his sister are very nice!!
Friendly and kind guest, Doug really got the "wild" spirit of a relaxing break in Maremma: hot shower by night among olive trees, bike riding and enjoying wonderful beaches and surroundings.
We consider our self very lucky to have Doug as a friend. We used to work together and when Doug decided to make changes in his career even if we were in 2 different continents we have still managed to maintain the relationship.
Doug is an amazing person. He has this very warm and open personality that makes you want to spend time with him and listen to his amazing stories. Doug loves traveling. We call him Indiana Jones :) He was skiing in all 5 continents. He went to China crossing Russia and discovering beautiful Siberian landscapes. He crossed all Americas from the North to the South.
Apart of his amazing adventures and the passion for discovering people and places Doug has a very down to earth personality. You can always count on him since he is a very reliable person. We can highly recommend Doug and his beautiful apartment to anybody.
