I'm from Portland, currently in the air force. I like to hike and cycle. being around a environment of nice people and breweries make me happy since it reminds me of home.

I stayed in Mon's studio for one night as I was in-and-out of Portland attending a conference for one day.
My communications with Mon were good, he was responsive but kept changing the plans on how to hand me the key to his apartment, which was a little unsettling, but it all worked out fine in the end (he finally had a neighbor let me in the building and hand me the keys).
The apartment is very centrally located, a stone's throw from the convention center and public transport. I cannot say much else on this because I really came just to spend all day at the convention center, but I assume that it's also ideally located if you want to just explore Portland.
Be warned, despite the double-pane window, the place is quite noisy from the highway running right there (as pictured), the streets down below and the tram just a block across. So if city noise bothers you at night, you may not be able to get a good night's sleep here.
Last but not least, I was surprised that Mon did not change the bed sheets or leave a clean towel somewhere obvious for me to use. For this price, I did expect the bed sheets to be clean. The whole experience made me feel more like I was "couch-surfing" at someone's place (minus actually meeting my host). I have done my fair share of couch-surfing in the past but when using AirBnB's services I expect a little more than what I got here.
This was sadly the first time that an AirBnB listing did not meet my expectations. I was looking for a place a little cozier and more personal than a hotel room, but really should have just gone with the hotel in this case.
The place was nice and close to perl district, we were mostly out, biking walking around the city. One thing I really like was it was close to various places train station, bike rental place, coffee shop etc. Mon was not available when we arrived but his wife showed us the place and gave us the keys. He also checked up on us later which was nice of him. Thanks guys I was a fun trip. :)
Mon was communicative. The bed was comfy, it was located conveniently enough for me to walk to and from work across the bridge to old town. I felt safe and comfortable. It was nice to leave the window open and relax at night, but close it before bed so morning traffic did not wake me up.
Great location and a pleasant stay.
Had a great time, excellent location & room, would love to stay again next time we're in Portland!
James/Mon was a great host, offering tips and answering questions. (He was even understanding and patient with us when my phone died mid-check-in.) His place was centrally located, but it still had easy street parking nearby.
James was great! Very courteous and friendly, a great communicator, and left the place spotless. I'd welcome him back any time.
