We had a wonderful stay @ writer's inn. Easily accessible by road but once your there its a world of your own. Have the luxury of staying in a cottage with a private hill. The view is amazing, capturing the peak and the moving clouds. Everything is well taken care of, from house keeping to food. Good support staff, always smiling and ensuring you are having a comfortable stay.
We loved our stay at Winters inn, It is located on top of a hill with a gorgeous view of the Chembra peak. Apart from the fantastic location, everything from utensils to the interiors of the house have been carefully picked by Suresh and they give the house a beautiful antique look.
The help that was appointed by Suresh were really friendly and made us feel at home. Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend it.
I am very tempted to keep this magical place a secret from the rest of the world :). When I arrived, I immediately called Suresh to tell him the photos don't begin to do it justice. Then I called home to Canada to announce that I was in the most beautiful place I had ever been -- among 35+ countries. And that was in the dark BEFORE I had my first glimpse of the garden and the spectacular views.
The Inn itself well-equipped with appliances, a generator and candles/matches just in case! High quality linens and towels are a nice touch, and the JamBox lets you have your favourite music anywhere on the estate. The bathroom is stunning: feels like you are showering in the open air.
Within 24 hours, I came to realise that on top of all the material comforts, Suresh has put together a wonderful team of kind, generous Keralites to take care of every need -- great meals, great day trips to interesting places, GREAT massages and great company for a solo traveler. I will definitely be re-visiting the Writer's Inn.
It is worth noting that the Inn does not have an internet connection. For me, this was a good thing and important to slipping into a vacation in which time and space moved at their own pace. Good 3G reception made it possible to be in touch if necessary and internet cafes are available in the village.
Being pretty much embedded in nature led to some interesting guests: a few big spiders to gently encourage back outdoors at the Inn. A few thousand small ants when I foolishly left something they found tasty on the kitchen counter -- but they simply marched elsewhere when I removed the remaining crumbs. A couple of mice and a friendly grey lizard came to say hello in the bamboo cottage.
Congratulations to Suresh. I hope the Inn brings you as much pleasure as it will to everyone else who comes for a visit. You are generous to share it with others!
