I love Austin and am happy to share it with newcomers to the city. There is so much to do - it is typical that there are multiple events going on the same night - so often the challenge is choosing one, or having to figure out logistics to get to both.
I enjoy biking around the city on a beautiful day, stopping at a few watering holes, tasting some of the best food truck snacks, and hanging out and swimming at Barton Springs. It's a great place for those that love a healthy, active lifestyle, with an extra bonus of a thriving music and arts scene. Austin is also home to some of the nicest and best-intentioned humans I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. People flock here because life is great here! Living in Austin and wanting to enjoy it to the fullest was one of the main reasons I quit a corporate-type job in order to try a few different occupations.
What kind of traveler am I? Well, I like to see cities on foot, or bike, or public transit. I like to interact with locals and see more than the major highlights. Usually my favorite spots are not the ones I plan to see in advance, it's the unexpected treasures I find along the way... street musicians and local artisans, delicious hole-in-the-wall places that the locals frequent for years before tourists find them... you get it.
My life motto is "Do what feels right" and I generally do!
