I came here for a few months and never left. What pulled me in is not hard to describe. One day your neighbor is on the stoop looking at old photographs of quaint furniture, the next week she is playing with a a reconstructed hand saw from the 1850s, and a few months later she's opened a great little carpentry shop. In my 15 years of living and traveling through Australia and Europe I had never seen such a curious spirit matched by the daring required to make things come true. I immediately recognized myself in the local brew, equal measures dreaming and doing, and decided to make my life here. I work at one of the neighborhood's coolest eateries, I'm a passionate swing dancer, and I make and sell silver jewelry. Most of all I work hard at living the great life. I really hope you catch some of that magic when you visit Brooklyn. One more thing: the 1920s are amazing!
