Im a property management agent , will be glad to help you with your accommodation needs while you are in NYC
First the positive. The location is great and gives good access to all the things that you will want to see in the city. An easy walk to Central Park and Times Square and there are a lot of nice restaurants close by.
Now the negative side of things. The cleanliness of the apartment was, quite frankly, unacceptable. The apartment had not been cleaned and we ended up vacuuming the entire apartment and cleaning the bathroom. There was a mouldy piece of cheese in the fridge that looked like it had been there for at least a couple of months. There was no soap for the bathroom, no shower gel and the hair dryer did no work so we ended up having to buy all of these. The toilet paper was the thinnest, cheapest of its kind so we also ended up buying a better quality.
The apartment is extremely noisy, so do not stay here if you are a light sleeper. The bedroom windows face onto 9th Avenue which is very busy. The windows are double glazed however even with them closed it is still quite noisy. The other problem is that the heating within the apartment cannot be controlled therefore it gets extremely hot unless you open the window which then of course makes it very noisy.
The apartment is very dark (which is probably not that unusual for small NY apartments) however for some reason the light fittings all have low wattage bulbs so even when all the lights are on it is still dark and dingy.
One final thing is that the stairs leading up to the apartment (2nd storey) are extremely steep (we called them the "death trap") so if you have difficulty with stairs I would not recommend staying here.
So in summary, this apartment is probably typical of how the average New Yorker lives so if you want a true NY experience then this is probably it. Noisy, small, dark, hot and stuffy. If you are after a nice comfortable apartment then I would give this a miss.
The apartment was good, great location and clean.
I highly recommand this apartment.
The apartment was just nice for the 5 of us as we're asians so we can walk around freely. Everything was great and the host was really helpful and always reply to us promptly when we needed help and enquiries.
The location was perfect, quiet and safe as it is a midtown area. For muslims who would like to rent this area, it is really perfect as there is a small halal place named Mariachi, a 10 mins walk from home. It is easy to get a cab around the area.
So we really recommend staying here.
Estupenda ubicacion!
place can be (website hidden) was not working. great location, close to a lot of tourist destinations.
Everything was as described - great little apartment in a brilliant location.
Would definitely recommend!
We appreciated Rosa accepting our request at the last minute, only 5 days before we checked in. We found her to be a timely communicator, answering our request and questions within an hour or less, which was so helpful. Getting to her location and gaining access to the apartment was easy despite my worries. The flat was in a convenient location and we were able to walk all over midtown and the UES. We barely spent any time there, but found it in a quiet neighborhood with many restaurants, activities and access to NYC sites. Thanks Rosa!
This was a great place to stay and the renters were friendly and willing to accomodate us, even when our plans changed last minute. Nice location.
I made trying to make a last minute reservation with Rosa at one of her apartments on the east side but it was occupied. She indicated that she had another apartment and i grabbed it because i was in a jam and needed a place pronto. Rosa was extremely accommodating. She met us at the apartment and allowed us to keep our bags int he apartment until late afternoon on our departure day. She was great but the apartment was a bit funky. The neighborhood is close to lots of things but is itself not great, It is safe but doesn't have many amenities. The apartment foyer and stairs are run down and dirty. The climb up to the second floor from the first floor is extremely steep. One should be fit to take this apartment.
The apartment: it was very clean though it had a musty smell and the furnishings were old. As other reviewers have noted, there is some significant street noise. It was cool that day and night but we still ran the AC for the white noise To conclude, I would be happy to stay in an apartment that Rosa hosts but I would probably not choose this one again. It sleeps a bunch of people so if you need a budget place and need beds and don't mind a funky place, it would be fine. You could convince yourself that this is a bohemian experience.
It was amazing!
