The best of both worlds, close to the funky town of Nelson and nights tucked amongst trees as if in a backcountry hut. Peter was great and we felt very comfortable and good place to rest and recover between adventures....
Cheap, comfortable and convenient.
Peter's place is a fairly comfortable room in the woods with a tiny bathroom accessible from outside. There is a very small refrigerator and hot water heater inside and a camp stove outside on the deck without water supply (except in the bathroom). This place is 2.1 km from town up a hill which becomes steep and unpaved as it nears the house. The house is not on level ground and access to it from the road is a wooded path without steps or lights. It is my opinion that you must have a car and enjoy camping to stay at Peter's place.
This place is really cool and a great place to stay. Totally unique and a perfect fit into the beautiful South Island environment that will be surrounding you. Has everything you need while travelling- fridge... internet ;) and is well maintained and clean.
Peter and family were so kind, helpful, and just really wonderful to meet.
Some day I'll be back to this part of the world, and would most definitely stay here again!
Peter's place was great for our Nelson visit. Their house is full of rustic charm and open space, perfect for socialising with larger groups. It was a great base for moving around the area whilst still with in walking distance from the city. Peter and his family where great hosts, extremely friendly and helpful whilst still giving us privacy. Would definitely return.
The cottage was an excellent value, providing all of the basics plus a warm welcome and laid back atmosphere. Complete with a mini fridge, electric kettle, gas stove, cutlery/dishes/pans, linens and towels, a private shower/toilet and outdoor spa tub. There is also a large desk and wired internet for any work/computer-based needs. The location is within comfortable biking distance to the town and beach. We would definitely stay there again!
Peter's place was perfect for what we were looking for. It's rustic but unique! A real hide away. Thanks to Peter too for all the helpful travel tips.

Peter & Erica's Cabin is wonderful! Full of rustic chic charm these two have created an oasis in the midst of Nelson City - one can so easily forget they are only a short stroll away from fabulous coffee and boutique art galleries. What a treat to bathe in the open air with steam swirling and dancing around our view; to sit back and soak in the sky with fluffy clouds hurtling by and bright stars guiding our way at night. Not to mention the hosts how welcoming and genuine our hosts here - a treat all round...we would happily indulge in the cabin any time we return to Nelson and we highly recommend this home away from home...high five!
Peter's sleepout is charming, comfortable, and in a peaceful oasis in the forest right in the middle of town. Highly recommended.
