Spent my childhood in Scarsdale (Westchester) north of the City; skated at Rockefeller Center, frequently visited the Zoo and Museum of Natural History. Most recent visit to City was May 2011 when the Oregon Symphony performed at Carnegie Hall! Stayed in Brooklyn then -- due to long commute to the Manhattan sights, I prefer staying much closer in. Though I'm not a "city" person, my son (resident of TriBeCa) urges me to soak up the uniqueness of NYC on short trips!
I'm a classically-trained musician so am inclined to the sedate: symphony, chamber music, opera, and good theater. I love adventurous cuisine but dislike eating alone so I choose meals I can stir up in the kitchen (or grab at a deli on the way to the show).
My style of travel: usually solo (Hubby isn't real mobile), tent camping in Oregon (less city travel), and some overseas (western Europe, UK, Thailand once), I love Thai/ Indian/Middle Eastern/Greek/Asian/southern US cuisines.
