The appartment is well located, in front of a subway station, in a lively area on the day but very calm at night.
We had some problems, for ewample, there was only 4chairs and tablewae for 4, but the appartment is for 6 persons. Though, Cindy was very reactive and fixed the tableware problem very quickly. Moreover we had some troubles with the hot water but we fixed it with cindy too.
Except these little problems, the week was very pleasant in the appartment, it's very nice to live there and it's functionnal
This apartment is good value for the money. Hosts Cindy and Chris are outgoing and very helpful, making sure that your stay is as good as possible. Also a bonus that they live in the house and are available to give hands-on support or answer questions, not to mention the benefit of being able to eat for 20% less in the restaurant that Chris manages on the ground floor of the apt. building. Subway access is close and you are at all major stops in Manhattan in no time, making it really unnecessary to have a car. We needed to have a car to take several necessary trips to Long Island and Yonkers during our stay. The car parks are abundant in the area, but parking in NY and Brooklyn is quite costly - especially if you have an oversized vehicle like an SUV. There are many shopping opportunities in the area as well. The apartment is simply but comfortably furnished and has everything that you really need - the kitchen is equipped with all the basics, WIFI and printer are available in the apt., ample closet space, clean, no bugs. Negative points: If you are not a smoker you might be annoyed with the residents of the downstairs apt. who smoke which wafts up to the rental flat. The area is a bustling and noisy inner city environment and the hustle and the bustle start early. Street noise is audilble. There is a large construction site on the other side of Lawrence Street which is very loud. Those who are sensitive to noise be warned! Construction material delivery trucks and construction vehicles are prevalent in the street starting as early as 6:30 am and they are pretty loud. Weekends are quieter and work starts later.
The location of this apartment is truly the best for access to anywhere in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Walking distance to the beautiful Brooklyn Promenade and famous Grimaldi's. The apartment is no frills but was surprisingly spacious. Our family of 4 which includes 2 teenagers stayed very comfortably for a week. Cindy is a very friendly and helpful host.
Thank you Dawn!
This apartment was perfect! Cindy was nice enough to let us reserve the room the same day that we needed to stay. And even though the subways weren't running because of Sandy, we were still close enough to walk to Park Slope. Great apartment and great host!
Thanks so much! :)
Cindy's apartment is in a perfect site. It is a minute from the subway and less than 15 minutes walk to Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges; 5 minutes from Brooklyn Heights. It had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable for 6 adults from one family. We spent Hurricane Sandy here and felt safe and well supported throughout. Cindy is gorgeous- friendly, supportive and non intrusive. We loved Brooklyn, and Manhattan under pressure was impressive. We met with lots of good will and humour. The restaurant downstairs is great. all in all, a fantastic base for a stay in New York.
Great host great location great place!
We were allowed to be as loud as we want:)
I had a great stay at Cindy's place. The apartment was exactly as advertised, and it was close to lots of subway lines which made it easy to commute in and out of Manhattan.
We (2 couples from Montreal), stayed at Cindy's apartment in October 2012 and we have only good comments about it. First the apartment itself was perfect for 4 people, the beds were comfy and the location was good. There is a metro station right at the door so you are anywhere you want to be in minutes. But the best part was Cindy and her husband Chris who were welcoming and helpful. They bought us a beer when we arrived, arranged a 20% off at the restaurant downstairs (The Dining Room, which we also highly recommend! Food and beer was good!), helped us with directions, etc!
Nice, yet pretty basic place in the heart of Brooklyn.
Clean, tidy, with basic amenities. No toaster nor microwave. (At least toaster would have been nice in the mornings). There's a 24 hr Deli across he street, and the IHOP is also nearby, so if not feeling like cooking breakfast at home...
Great location, Jay Street station literally just there, 20 ins to Manhattan. The place is what was promised, we were very happy!
Cindy is a superb host, always there to help, and doing her best in everything. Thanx Cindy!!
Great host and apartment. I definitely recommended it!!
