The stay at the Carriage House Unit B was very nice. The building was in a nice neighborhood, walkable to many restaurants and businesses on South Congress, and a short mile and a half or so walk across the river to Austin's downtown. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the studio was very comfortably decorated. Bill was very hospitable and accomodating, and always answered his phone and promptly replied to emails throughout the entire process. Overall it was a very enjoyable, stress-free stay.
AMAZING. GORGEOUS. BEYOND OUR EXPECTATIONS. From the moment we booked, Bill was exceptionally helpful. The apartment is exactly as pictured and better. The location is an easy 5 minute walk from the main South Congress St. strip, and a 10 minute Uber/Taxi ride downtown. For SXSW it could not have been a better spot.
The home itself is breathtaking. The decor is exceptional and Bill's taste is impeccable. When we arrived, he had kindly left 4-5 local beers in the fridge and plenty of Nespresso pods for our use. (Half-way through the week, he replenished our stash without asking!) The kitchen is plenty for what we needed (microwave, mini fridge, toaster, espresso maker, and sink).
The special touches were also very convenient-- toiletries in the bathroom, AMAZING bathrobes, pool towels, a keypad entry so that you don't have to worry about remembering a key, iron and board, hangers, and the pool deck to name a few. We were busy all day, but took time every evening and morning to sit by the pool. It's WARM, beautiful, and honestly...the perfect Hideaway.
The A/C worked perfectly, it's on a quiet street with no noise at all, the TV and Sound system were fantastic, water pressure was great, Wi-Fi was flawless (my husband worked from The Hideaway all day for a week with no problems) and Bill was always prompt in answering any questions we had.
We absolutely hope to return next year and look forward to it! THANK YOU BILL!
Perfect place and great amenities, a joy! The location is perfect, an easy walk to great restaurants and shops and a quiet and leafy neighborhood. The host was accommodating, even with a schedule update and was easy to communicate with. Will be booking again!
Bill was a great host - quick to respond to queries and really helpful with little things like extra coffee, towels and leaving our bags before our flight out.
The Hideaway is an awesome spot. It's a beautiful apartment with great pool. Top notch wifi. Quiet neighbourhood but less than a 5min walk to South Congress and just 25min walk to downtown. Comfortably suited three adults (1 couple & 1 single) for a week and we'd happily recommend to anyone visiting Austin. Definitely the best place I've stayed in the city in 6 visits.
Bill's Carriage House was one of my favorite places I've stayed in on Airbnb. A charming home with all the amenities you could think of (a nespresso machine, tea, hairdryer, extra shampoo and conditioner, and more!) it feels like a true hideaway from the city. We loved the location and proximity to South Congress Street - it's an easy 10 minute walk or 5 minute bike ride. Bill was a fantastic host - easy to communicate with and very responsive. We loved the ability to use Bill's bikes to commute into Austin too. I would highly recommend staying here and would absolutely stay here again.
We had a wonderful time staying in the Carriage House! It was such a perfect location for us, easy walking distance to South Congress, and a quick cab ride to downtown and Rainey Street. The house had everything we needed -- coffee, umbrellas, a hair dryer, plenty of closet space -- we really couldn't have asked for a more pleasant accommodation. And the bed was so comfortable! Hopefully we'll be back soon, Austin!
I loved: the furniture, decor, parking (ample room for two cars if parked tandem-style), size & layout, bedding, mattresses, current magazine subscriptions, pool area (even though we couldn't use it due to the cold weather, it's certainly well done), amazing art, large TVs in all the rooms, price, and so much more.
This a great place at an even better price. It's just a short walk from SoCo, which is what made it so great. Bill is a great host who doesn't skimp on the details. I was pleasantly surprised to find current issues of W, Elle, and Harper's Bazaar there as well as others.
Part of the reason I chose this place is because I actually have some of the same decor and furnishings in my own home so the style was definitely what I was looking for. The bed was also so incredibly comfortable, and as a frequent traveler, having a very comfortable bed is certainly one of the most important things during my stays.
My wife and I had a great stay in this cute, studio carriage house. It was within 2-3 block walk to South Congress where you can find many shops, restaurants, etc. Although we did not need much, Bill was very attentive to any needs when it was necessary. The best review I could give is that I would not hesitate to stay here again when I am in Austin.
Bill was great. He provided information regarding the logistics of staying at his place early in the process, and was clear and comprehensive in his instructions about getting there. He was helpful, providing us with some recommendations about places to check out around town, and always responsive when I reached out to him. His place is great - neat, big, and comfortable. We only used one bed, but it was extremely comfortable, and there was a pool, but unfortunately the weather was too cold to take advantage of it. Would definitely stay with Bill again - thanks Bill!
We loved the Hideaway and the neighborhood. Tucked in a pleasant neighborhood, the setting was quiet yet an easy walk to the South Congress neighborhood shops and restaurants. It's very apparent that Bill has invested a lot of time and energy into making the Hideaway comfortable and inviting. It is spacious and well laid out, and the bathroom delightfully large. The beds and linens were superb. We'd definitely stay here again, and will recommend the Hideaway to our friends visiting Austin.
