My partner David and myself lived and worked in Edinburgh, Scotland (a city always in our heart and not to be missed!) We have recently moved to Alte, deciding to take time out to enjoy life and escape the "rat race" for a while!
The historic village of Alte is one of the prettiest villages in the Algarve, offering a real feel of typical Portugal whilst being only a 25min drive to the coast and the world class beaches.
Our house is in the very centre of Alte, a few steps from the lovely church which chimes reasuringly every half hour. The house is a typical old Portuguese townhouse with lots of character and a fascinating history, along with the odd challenge to our diy skills! We have two rooms available, one with WC ensuite.
A fully equipped kitchen with gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, kettle and washing machine are available. The downstairs lounge with dining room has a television with Satelitte tv along with a dvd player and a wide selection of dvds available on request
There are fans and electric blankets (for those very rare cooler nights!).
Our terrace by day is a perfect sun trap completely enclosed for total privacy with a barbeque available if you choose to dine al fresco. By night under a blanket of stars, with candles and background lighting, the most wonderful retreat to enjoy total relaxation. Sunbeds and towels provided on request.
David & I love socialising with food and wine being an essential ingredient in our lives. We very much enjoy a nice glass (or two!) of Vinho whilst relaxing on our terrace or enjoying the atmosphere of the village cafes used by both locals and tourists.
The various walks around Alte are wonderful, nearby there is a waterfall, a natural spring which provides fresh water for the village swimming pool used by the local residents and tourists alike.
We both love travelling and meeting new people and have a good understanding of Portuguese, a very important aim for us is to improve our understanding of the language as we feel this is essential in order to gain the most in this wonderful country.
Well, that's a brief description of ourselves and our lovely home, We look forward to welcoming you some time soon!
Kevin & David
