Hello Zi Wei, Thank you so much for the review. I am so sorry to hear about your parking ticket. I feel like this whole situation was due to a language barrier. As you drove up, I pointed out lots of parking spaces that I could see one block to the left and one block to the right of us. However, when you came back to the house inquiring about the lock, I noticed that you had parked directly in front of our neighbor's garage...which is not an open parking spot.
So, since I did not want you to get towed and I knew you were having a hard time understanding what is an open street parking spot and what isn't, I said you could try parking your car in our driveway, just as long as you don't block the sidewalk, as I heard they may ticket for that. We park in our driveway all the time, but since our car is smaller, we don't block the pedestrian right of way. And for those reading, an open street parking spot is any curb, just as long as it isn't red or during street cleaning times - which you will have to look at the signs for that.
Anyways, as you were getting out of your car I noticed that it took up much more space than I thought it would have and I warned you that you may have to move it since it is blocking the sidewalk slightly, but really, it's at your own risk. You said ok. Sadly, I don't think you fully understood what I was saying.
Had I have known that you received a parking ticket, I would have paid for it on the spot. I am terribly sorry about the dilemma and I'm glad you were able to find street parking the last night. As you may have noticed then, there really is a lot of parking within 1 to 2 blocks from the house.
