We rented Brian's home for a week in July 2014. Brian was extremely easy to communicate with, full of information, and a gracious host. He provided a welcome packet full of details upon arrival. The house is located approximately 15 minutes west of downtown Charleston. The location is fantastic as there are great dining options close by, and it was equidistant to visit the plantations (Magnolia Gardens, Middleton Place); downtown (aquarium, waterfront) or even Patriots Point and Mount Pleasant. We travel with a toddler, so it was great to have the toys out and available. The house, though old, had a strong air conditioning system given the summer heat and humidity. We did feel that the linens and mattresses were worn and could be improved. While there is wireless internet available, the signal was neither consistent, nor strong away from router.
What a beautiful home! The property is lovely: the lush green yard has plenty of trees to provide shade and privacy. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is spacious enough to accommodate our three 'chefs,' and the Comptons were gracious to let us use their cookware. The booklet the Comptons left for us was a wonderful, personal touch, with details about the family and each room. The decor was a particular hit with everyone in our party. It's eclectic and tasteful and fun, and says so much about our hosts.
The Comptons are ideal hosts. Communication was excellent. They made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. I highly recommend them!
Brian's home was a wonderful space, we loved the furnishings in the living room, dining room and TV room. all good size. The master bedroom was also very spacious and nice with good light to wake up to in the morning.
Kitchen was well furnished with basic supplies and appliances, easy to use and prepare a meal. We appreciated the ready convenience of the Keurig Coffee maker and wide variety of tea and coffee capsules.
We did not need nor use the upstairs, but it too was spacious with a few more beds in an open-loft style set up.
The yard was fun and huge! And the screened porch made you want to sit out and sip a cool drink. We found a lot of fun neighborhood places to eat nearby.
The bathroom and closets were a little quirky, but if you can do quirky, this is a good place to stay.
All in all, we would return and take advantage of this quiet refuge close to Charleston.
Brian and his beautiful family are very perfect guests. Very polite, nice, funny.
All the communications were good. Everything was ok.
It was a real pleasure host them and I recommend them to every hosts.
