Mathilde was a great host; quick and responsive to our questions and requests. The communication was was timely and clear. Mathilde left the apartment clean for us, and made it feel like home. We have a great time in this apartment and would not hesitate to rent it again. The location is perfect, the Eiffel Tower is about a 7 minute walk and you can catch a train direct to Versaille from the train station at the Eiffel Tower.
Mathilde's apartment is as beautiful as the photos, if not more. We opened the big windows in the bedroom at night and we could see the light beam from the Eiffel tower (you can't see the tower itself). It couldn't be in a better location - it's walking distance from the Eiffel Tower, a few minutes walk to the metro, Rue Cler (which is an amazing market street), and a Carrefour (a grocery store where you can buy essentials like bottled water). Fast WiFi is also available.
The one thing that potential renters need to be aware of is the 5 flights of stairs. After walking around the city all day, our feet got really sore and the climb can be slightly painful. One negative about the experience is the communication, we didn't get clear instructions on what to do once we got to the apartment. If you would like to rent in the future, make sure that you know how you can get it/get the keys.
I didn't feel that welcome because there were no instructions or directions on how to use the equipment. The listing did not mention it was a 5 level walk-up and there was no elevator. We had a lot of baggage because we had been on a ship and my 84 year old husband had quite a time getting the suitcases up five flights. I was unable to help because of extensive back surgery.
I will say that Mathilde was very available by phone and my daughter was able to contact her easily. It was not clear what we could use or not use, I was reluctant to use any food items on the counter in the kitchen because of this. The kitchen is sparsely stocked with utensils. There was just enough toilet paper for a few days, same with paper towel, when we bought same, we had to buy six packs or four packs of rolls so she lucked out on our visit concerning such items we didn't use and left behind. I used to run a cottage in West Marin, CA, and there were clear directions on equipment, stashes of paper towel, toilet paper, shampoo, soap, coffee, and complete service for four of dishes and silverware, plus a welcome of yogurt, pastries, granola, milk, half and half, and fresh fruit. A little work, but worth the good will.
I hadn't read the contract on departure and we weren't ready at 11 when we were supposed to leave. Mathilde came by to check us out and clean for the next customers and we weren't ready. We hustled to finish packing and it had been my plan to clean but she wanted us out. We did leave the kitchen and bathroom clean but I would have liked to have swept the floors. We were out of the apartment an hour late and I am sorry for that.
Our stay was so lovely!! We could not have asked for a better location for our trip. We were so spoiled being in the 7th so close to the Eiffel Tower and in walking distance to Invalides, Rodin musee, St. Germain, etc. the apartment itself is so lovely. Gorgeous original hardwood floors that have been redone, separate living area with a nice size bedroom and closet. It was everything we could have wanted for our stay. Definitely nice to have some room to spread out over a few days. And also close to Rue Cler for some food shops. Mathilde was easy to work with and very nice. I'd recommend this apartment to anyone I know to stay there. The location was so perfect. As others note it is 4 flights up the stairs, not a big deal to us but it is tiring and it's through the back door after the mailboxes and into the next building. Oh I forgot to mention how much I loved the windows and truly feeling French! We also walked to the Eiffel Tower at night for the lights with a bottle of rose! Loved this apartment!!
Great host! Neighborhood is perfect. The apt was clean and beautifully decorated. Will stay here again!
We stayed at this place in August, and we liked it a lot. It's the whole experience, which we liked - staying in a beautiful city of Nice, exploring the neighbourhoods of French Riviera, staying at this little charming place right by the sea at Promenade des Anglais...
We had a different host, as instead of Mathilde, we were welcomed by Laetitia and her husband. There was a little bit of a problem before coming to contact Mathilde, and then she referred us to Laetitia, her sister, after that, we had no problem with communicating with our hosts. They welcomed us, and showed everything around the apartment, and as it was late arrival after 11pm, it was very sweet of them to accommodate us at such late time.
The apartment is smaller than we thought by looking at the pictures, but then, it's fine, as there is enough space for 2 people, and it is very functional, had everything we needed for our stay in Nice and French Riviera, including everything for the beach, like mats and tents/umbrellas.
The best thing which we liked about this apartment was the view. It was amazing! And the incredible feelings when sitting outside on the balcony, enjoying your breakfast in the morning, or a glass of wine and cheese in the evening, all the while watching the waves in the sea - we loved that.
This was our first time in French Riviera, and we enjoyed it a lot, we had a car, parking is not a big problem around the apartment building, but it's actually quite a problem in Nice. But we were glad we had a car, and we could visit nearby cities and also little nice villages.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay in Nice and in Laetitia/Mathilde's apartment, thank you, Laetitia and Jean!
The apartment was so cosy and in a quiet street. Just a stone throw away from the Eiffel Tower. Had to wait for Mathilde to drop the keys to us but loved our stay nonetheless
Our stay in the apartment were the best time in Europe! The landscape is amazing and Karina and I wants to live there! kkkkkkkk. The apartment is well located, the balcony is perfect to have a dinner or relax after a beach day and feel the fresh air of the beach. The apartment is very well furnished and it has everything that you need. I strongly recommend! Merci beaucoup Mathilde and Sonia!
Beautifully decorated, spacious apartment. Situated on a very quiet street, yet very close to the metro and Eiffel tower. It is also very close to Rue Cler, which has amazing patisseries, cheese shops and restaurants etc. Wifi was excellent.
Matilde was great to deal with. We had a problem with our hot water but it was fixed on the same day as alerting her.
