We are a couple of Seattle based artists. Patti makes mixed media art, Benson does public art.
This was a perfect place for my sister and I to stay. It was worth paying the small surcharge for use of the second bedroom. We both slept well due to comfy beds and cool air coming through the windows which we kept open. The #40 bus leaves from across the street and goes downtown, so very convenient if you don't have a car. Ballard is full of great places to eat and explore. Fabulous farmer's market on Sundays. Patti was a charming host and we had everything we needed.
Patti met us and show us where we could park our rental car - off the street, which was a plus. She then showed us the Ballard Artist's Studio which was just as darling as the last time I stayed there. From there we could walk to my daughter's home, to downtown Ballard and we even made it is far as the Ballard Locks which was very fun to see. In a large city with lots of traffic, the location is great. I felt comfortable walking in the neighborhood in the evening. Since we stayed there in July, we were provided with fans; however, the bedrooms upstairs cooled off quickly at night and sleeping was pleasant both in terms of the coolness and the quietness of the neighborhood.
Our stay at this art studio was amazing! Patti and Benson were so welcoming. Patti allowed us to drop our car off early as we explored the Ballard neighborhood before our check in time. Throughout the weekend, Patti popped in to work on her art from time to time, but was totally out of our way. It was like we had the entire house to ourselves.
The neighborhood was perfect for us. Plenty of restaurants, shopping, and bars. We wanted to stay in place were we could feel like we were actually living in Seattle, and this did the trick for us. Would definitely stay here again.
Patti was very sweet, helpful with maps and bus schedules. She left out delicious WA. cherries for us.
Patti is a local artisan and her work is in viewing site which is very interesting.
Best part: Ballard is close to Chittenden Locks, definitely a plus. Its free and next to a botanical garden.
Worst part: There are stairs leading up to the house and stairs leading up to the bedrooms. The bathroom is on a different floor than the bedrooms. You will need lots of energy getting around her place.
This is a charming, clean, bright home close to everything I needed in Ballard (cafes, bookstores, library, interesting places to walk). Patti and Benson were great hosts -- easy to talk to and it was fun to see all the different art throughout the house. I'll definitely keep this place on my list for a return visit.
The neighborhood was a lovely area to walk around with interesting shops and good restaurants at a variety of price levels. The b&b itself had a charming garden with good seating, off-street parking, and a charming host. It was her working studio and we enjoyed viewing her artwork and lovely craftsman-style bungalow. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Lovely hosts and space!
This was my first Airbnb experience. Patti and Benson's place is beautiful, bright, airy, and clean. It is uniquely decorated with Patti's artwork and installations which made it feel very special. We had the entire place to ourselves and whenever Patti was working in her studio she was very friendly and accommodating. The house is located in a lovely neighborhood where it is convenient to walk to public transportation, shops, cafes, bars, and even a movie theater. The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks and the Adventure Park are also within walking distance. I would definitely book this place again.
I had such a peaceful and enjoyable time staying at Patti's place. The studio is charming and she made it feel like home. It was so nice to chat with Patti about the neighborhood and she had some great recommendations. If you're looking to be surrounded by some beauty and inspiration that is walking distance to everything Ballard has to offer, Patti's house is the one.
Patti was very welcoming and easy to communicate with regarding our arrival and stay. The studio was extremely clean and the beds were comfortable. My mother had gotten sick during our trip and Patti kindly offered help several times.
Absolutely wonderful Airbnb friends! Loved visiting with the couple! Please come back again soon! :)
Very personable, neat and tidy.
I love everything about Patti and Benson's BNB! The ambiance is comfortable, homey, and playful.Their beautiful Craftsman home is conveniently located to absolutely everything you could possibly want for your business or pleasure stay. (Don't miss the cardamom pretzels and fabulous coffee at nearby Besa Lu, and the Majestic Bay Theater has a refreshing feel of small town flavor for first run films.) Patti and Benson are very knowledgeable, helpful and just plain fun to be around. I loved spending time in Patti's art studio, her work is simply amazing. I will definitely stay here on my next overnight visit to Seattle! You should, too!
