Barry was a great host and was very friendly and provided many answers to our questions that we had about the are. The house was located in a very safe neighborhood and was easy to use the public transportation from there. We enjoyed our stay very much at Barry's place.
Comfortably appointed small cottage type arrangement with nice surroundings. Hosting well done and informative, nice touch with coffee and bagels. Privacy was at premium as did not see hostess after initial meeting. Quiet neighborhood central to features of New Orleans including, downtown, French Qtr, fairgrounds and race track. Near Esplanade with its variety of eateries. Highly recommend. Good value for price.
We had a great stay! Even though we arrived late after a 7-8 hour drive, we were greeted and given a tour. The neighborhood felt very safe and it was a quick drive everywhere. The facility is a private guest house so there was a lot of privacy and they provided a refrigerator and toaster with bagels and cream cheese - which was nice as we were hungry after the long drive. Facility has an air unit, heater, bathroom, double bed, shower, small closet, couch (with pull-out bed) , TV, everything you could really need! The guest house is also in an area that is behind a gate and fenced area that you can lock for extra security. The pool and hot tub are AWESOME, we just couldn't take advantage due to the weather. The treehouse is also a really cool touch! Barry was a great host and was easy to keep in touch with before and during the stay. I had several packages shipped there due to it being Halloween and ordering costume items last minute - not only were they okay with this, they had my packages neatly laid out when we arrived. We met their sweet dog too one day in the yard area as we left! As a dog lover, I loved being greeted with a wagging tail as I stepped out that day. There was enough room for 2 girls with a lot of luggage and costume items to spread out and get ready. I am so glad we chose to stay here and not at a hotel as we originally planned. You will feel at home and taken care of, and I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting New Orleans! They also provide a packet with literature about the area and cool places to visit. If and when I come back, I would love to stay here again!
An oasis surrounded by outstanding food! The pool was an amazing escape from the heat and the cozy quarters were just right or my friend and I. Barry was lovely and the live music from inside the house was a nice touch to our NOLA arrival. Thanks for a great weekend Barry!
The place is perfect. It's in a great neighborhood nestled between some beautiful streets. Unfortunately I didn't have much time to lounge around the place because I was in town for a wedding, but we loved the guest house and it had everything we needed.
We had a great experience staying at Barry's guest house over Memorial Day weekend. The home was clean and very comfortable. Barry was the perfect host and made sure we had all the essentials...clean towels, extra soap, towels for the pool, and she even provided us with coffee and bagels. The wifi worked well and the pool and patio furniture was definitely a bonus. I'd recommend Barry's guest house to all of my closest friends.
Barry's little hideaway was the best place for us. Her accommodations were perfectly described and exactly what we needed. It's not in the middle of the action as some people might want to be when they're in NOLA but that was perfect for us. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. I fell in love with the neighborhood and the people I met there. All very friendly folks. Barry was out of town when we were there, but her friend Chris was there along with Addy the dog. It felt like "home." Also it was very easy to get to and from everywhere we wanted to go. When we come back (and we're coming back; We fell in love with NOLA) we hope Barry's place will be available to stay again. Thanks Barry!
We enjoyed our stay at Barry's. She was accomodating and communication was good thoughout. The accomodations were as described and quit comfortable. It's location is Mid-City/Esplanade and very accessible to the City park (museum), Race track and fair grounds (festival). It is in a small neighborhood enclave with a market, coffee shops and restaurants.
We did not have a car so getting back and forth to the French Quarter took some planning with the 91 bus or trolley that leaves from city park. We rented bike for 2 days and this was the most practical. Cabs are an option also.
Barry's place is a great little getaway in New Orleans. We felt like we had our own home and place to relax - especially with the pool! Barry was very sweet and provided extra towels for swimming and bagels for breakfast. Restaurants and a good market were walking distance. I wasn't feeling well so it was great to have somewhere as comfortable as Barry's to recuperate.
My husband and I had a great stay at Barry's place. She was very flexible, a great communicator and the listing was exactly as it appears online. It is located in a great, safe neighborhood close to transportation and an adorable strip of places to eat. Two of the nights we were there we just walked down the street and had dinner and drinks and it was a blast. We used her pool and hot tub and she was great at bringing us extra towels and making sure we had everything we need. It was perfect!
Barry lives right across the street from me and we've been friends for over 3 years. She is a wonderful and gracious human being and has a great guest house. I highly recommend her place. You won't regret it!
