Wea have seen Barry the first Dayton.
Appartment was as the description, clean and cosy. Quiet street and Easy to park the car. A few minutes in car to go to French quarter.
This place is the perfect bohemian romantic stay for two. Host is very friendly and accommodating. The neighbourhood itself is great with small cafes etc - as a tourist, you feel that you get to see the "real" New Orleans. The street car is a 7-10 min. walk away making the trip downtown and back very easy (app. 20 min). We had a wonderful time and can only recommend staying here - we know we will when we come back!
Barry was very welcoming. Though she wasn't in town for the majority of our stay, she made sure we had everything we needed as well as a way to contact her or a neighbor if anything came up. The guest house was just as described and the neighborhood was charming.
I visited the city shortly after Mardi Gras. My experience in New Orleans was GREAT and this place certainly was a factor towards it.
The place is great. I was able to check in early and still have breakfast at Cafe Du Monde. The place is spacious, clean, and with all the necessities. I had no complains. Very peaceful if you're looking to unwind or rest after exploring the city. I was able to explore more places using information such as maps and books that were available.
The location was my favorite. There is a coffee shop at walking distance and the French Quarter is about 10-minutes away.
I would definitely stay here again!
Stayed here on a recent weekend trip to New Orleans. Barry was a wonderful host and extremely flexible with us checking in and out. The house is just under a two mile walk to Jackson Square and about a mile to the edge of City Park. For those who don't feel like walking a cab ride is only about $10. An even cheaper option is the bus. Cute neighborhood with a couple of restaurants close by. Barry provided bagels for breakfast and the space was clean and comfortable.
Great location off Esplanade down the street from THE BEST gumbo in town at Liuzza's! Quiet street, perfect respite after a long day and night out. Only wish it had been warmer to enjoy the pool. Would love to come back if I could! Private and convenient.
Barry's guest house and was the perfect place for me and my girlfriend during our stay in New Orleans. The location was great, there was plenty of street parking outside, and if you ever need anything the host is literally feet away from you in the main house. It was too cold to enjoy the pool but it should be an added benefit to those who stay with Barry during the summer. Thanks for hosting us!
Wow what a nice setup Barry has! Private room, nice comfy courtyard, impressive tree house. Had a great stay here. Would definitely stay here again!
Great little neighborhood. Not too far from French Quarter by car but a long ways to walk. A coffee shop nearby, a nice restaurant that only serves lunch and dinner and a store not too far either. Barry was a very good host. She was attentive to our needs but not overbearing. Very nice pool house. It has a cool tree house as well. It was exactly as advertised. Barry provides a small kitchen area with a fridge, microwave and toaster and bagels in the fridge. Although we didn't partake, it was nice and welcoming touch. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends and family. Very close to the fairgrounds if you are looking for a place to stay for Jazz Fest. Thanks Barry. My husband and I had a fantastic time at Mardi Gras!
My husband and I stayed at Barry's lovely guest house for my birthday weekend. What a great find! Barry was a wonderful host, and the little house was clean and comfortable with nice touches like bagels & cream cheese in the fridge and a very comfy bed. The house stayed cozy on chilly evenings thanks to the heater. The guest house is next to a nice little pool (it was too chilly to test it out this time, unfortunately) and a funky tree house. The neighborhood is quiet, safe & lovely, and the house is a short walk from a great place to grab coffee and some nice little restaurants. Highly recommended! We'll be back again. :)
Barry lives right across the street from me and we've been friends for over 3 years. She is a wonderful and gracious human being and has a great guest house. I highly recommend her place. You won't regret it!
