We had a great experience staying at Barry's guest house over Memorial Day weekend. The home was clean and very comfortable. Barry was the perfect host and made sure we had all the essentials...clean towels, extra soap, towels for the pool, and she even provided us with coffee and bagels. The wifi worked well and the pool and patio furniture was definitely a bonus. I'd recommend Barry's guest house to all of my closest friends.
Barry's little hideaway was the best place for us. Her accommodations were perfectly described and exactly what we needed. It's not in the middle of the action as some people might want to be when they're in NOLA but that was perfect for us. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. I fell in love with the neighborhood and the people I met there. All very friendly folks. Barry was out of town when we were there, but her friend Chris was there along with Addy the dog. It felt like "home." Also it was very easy to get to and from everywhere we wanted to go. When we come back (and we're coming back; We fell in love with NOLA) we hope Barry's place will be available to stay again. Thanks Barry!
We enjoyed our stay at Barry's. She was accomodating and communication was good thoughout. The accomodations were as described and quit comfortable. It's location is Mid-City/Esplanade and very accessible to the City park (museum), Race track and fair grounds (festival). It is in a small neighborhood enclave with a market, coffee shops and restaurants.
We did not have a car so getting back and forth to the French Quarter took some planning with the 91 bus or trolley that leaves from city park. We rented bike for 2 days and this was the most practical. Cabs are an option also.
Barry's place is a great little getaway in New Orleans. We felt like we had our own home and place to relax - especially with the pool! Barry was very sweet and provided extra towels for swimming and bagels for breakfast. Restaurants and a good market were walking distance. I wasn't feeling well so it was great to have somewhere as comfortable as Barry's to recuperate.
My husband and I had a great stay at Barry's place. She was very flexible, a great communicator and the listing was exactly as it appears online. It is located in a great, safe neighborhood close to transportation and an adorable strip of places to eat. Two of the nights we were there we just walked down the street and had dinner and drinks and it was a blast. We used her pool and hot tub and she was great at bringing us extra towels and making sure we had everything we need. It was perfect!
Wea have seen Barry the first Dayton.
Appartment was as the description, clean and cosy. Quiet street and Easy to park the car. A few minutes in car to go to French quarter.
This place is the perfect bohemian romantic stay for two. Host is very friendly and accommodating. The neighbourhood itself is great with small cafes etc - as a tourist, you feel that you get to see the "real" New Orleans. The street car is a 7-10 min. walk away making the trip downtown and back very easy (app. 20 min). We had a wonderful time and can only recommend staying here - we know we will when we come back!
Barry was very welcoming. Though she wasn't in town for the majority of our stay, she made sure we had everything we needed as well as a way to contact her or a neighbor if anything came up. The guest house was just as described and the neighborhood was charming.
I visited the city shortly after Mardi Gras. My experience in New Orleans was GREAT and this place certainly was a factor towards it.
The place is great. I was able to check in early and still have breakfast at Cafe Du Monde. The place is spacious, clean, and with all the necessities. I had no complains. Very peaceful if you're looking to unwind or rest after exploring the city. I was able to explore more places using information such as maps and books that were available.
The location was my favorite. There is a coffee shop at walking distance and the French Quarter is about 10-minutes away.
I would definitely stay here again!
Stayed here on a recent weekend trip to New Orleans. Barry was a wonderful host and extremely flexible with us checking in and out. The house is just under a two mile walk to Jackson Square and about a mile to the edge of City Park. For those who don't feel like walking a cab ride is only about $10. An even cheaper option is the bus. Cute neighborhood with a couple of restaurants close by. Barry provided bagels for breakfast and the space was clean and comfortable.
Barry lives right across the street from me and we've been friends for over 3 years. She is a wonderful and gracious human being and has a great guest house. I highly recommend her place. You won't regret it!
