We (husband and wife, late twenties) visited Munich on Sept 26 for 4 nights. Sandra was easy to correspond with to book the place and make arrangements to meet up. We did find it a bit challenging to find the apartment once we got off the train, but it was right there! Literally steps from the train stop so after calling Sandra she talked us through it. Some of the pros for her place were: the location, super close to the amazing train system in Germany and it was close to the city. The nearby cafés and groceries stores were great and handy to grab food for breakfast or lunch. Also the apartment did have a lot of space and a full bathroom. Sandra was very personable and available when needed by text if we had any questions (which we did trying to operate the washing machine). Some things you may want to consider before booking: there are five flights of stairs to climb to the apartment (no elevator), the bed is very low to the ground just on a platform with a thin mattress and not the most comfortable if you are particular. Also this is not a tourist area - the locals we met were awesome - but many of the restaurants nearby only have the menus in German. But if you like getting the local experience like us, you'll find the area great!
Sandra's friend David met us and provided helpful information about a few restaurants to try and supermarkets nearby. We had a very nice time staying at this cozy and quirky apartment for 3 nights during Oktoberfest. The apartment was clean. The street below is bustling with activity, and it is very easy to reach the city center by taking the U-bahn, the bus, or even by walking on a nice day. Had a great stay and would recommend to others.
Note that there are many stairs - the best choice for young or active people but older people may have difficulty.
In short - great. We stayed in Sandra's place in Munich for 6 days, and used it as a base to visit other places in Bavaria. The apartment is clean, bright and airy with plenty of room for a couple. Sandra was extremely helpful with any requests I made and explained clearly how everything (e.g. the gas cooker) worked. (And her friend, whom we had to ask about something, was extremely helpful and gracious.)
It is very convenient for travel as there's a tube-stop outside (and bus and tram stops) with lines to the the main train-station, and to lots else besides. You could walk into the centre (Marienplatz) in 30 mins or so if you wished. There are bakers, cake shops and restaurants nearby (i.e. next to the apartment block).
The apartment has character, with books on Philosophy, Film and so on, on the bookshelves (in case you can read German), and music paraphenalia (posters) on the walls.
The apartment is on the fifth floor, and there is no elevator, so you will also get exercise when you stay! Perhaps for older people this may be an issue.
All in all, a lovely place, and a great host. We'd be very happy to stay there again should we visit Munich again (which we very much want to).
Super, einfach, problemlos - süßes Apartment mit allem was man braucht, sauber und sehr zentral!
danke für den Kaffee! ;-)
Sandra's apartment was exceptionally clean, large, and organized. Sandra set up Wifi access for us and even allowed us to use her laptop while we were there. Her apartment is literally outside the U-bahn station. Taking the subway downtown was 5-10 minutes. With the proximity, it would probably be within walking distance if you knew your way around the city. She even left chocolates on our pillows. Awesome place and would recommend to anyone looking for a clean place in a great location in Munich.
