Thank you, Adena & Mitch, for making Ron’s road-trip birthday weekend in the un-airconditioned ’72 Volkswagen Van (lovingly called “The Pink Oven”) a resounding success! We wanted a special destination where we could take our two dogs, relax and get in touch with nature, but not so in touch we were roughing it. Enter Salvation Cabin to the rescue with its perfect mix of rustic shabby chic sophistication! Thoughtful details abounded from the fridge stocked with farm fresh eggs, cantelope/blueberries, orange juice, fresh coffee beans to grind yourself and a loaf of bread baked by Adena that very morning. There was even a tiny little “bear” full of honey … by Rick … not Nabisco, but Rick: Rick and his hive probably live up the road. There was a lovely bouquet from a local florist, French L’Occitane bath products, a BOSE player with a CD selection of quality musicians. And not only did Adena bake fresh bread for the humans, she also made treats for the doggies. Only the humans weren’t wearing their reading glasses and they didn’t see the note stating who should do the consuming … so the humans ate the treats meant for the doggies. It just added to our “roughing it” weekend experience … HA! And you MUST try the outdoor shower! With chances of a wayward Cub Scout Troop making an unexpected appearance being extremely low, it’s just you, the cardinals, a few deer and a bar of soap. As it should be. And time spent at Salvation Cabin is how a relaxing and special weekend should be.
