Adam was very helpfull and friendly.
the flat is a great wide space well situed and quite for New york.
Clean but need to be refurbish and decorated to become just brillant.
The apartment was in the exact neighborhood we needed to be close to family living on the Upper East Side. Adam was there to meet us and "check in" was simple. The apartment is on the upper floor, and at the end of the hallway, so it was pretty quiet for NYC. The apartment Is very spacious.
Those are the positives. Unfortunately, there were several negatives. The whole place could be so much better if there was just a little attention paid to basic fixes:
1. The bed broke several times while we were sleeping. Cheap, thin slats gave way repeatedly. Adam was quick to come over and fix it, but when we received the warning "get into bed very gently" we wondered what about the bed was fixed. It broke again, and we had to move the mattress to the floor for the duration of our stay.
2. The vanity lights in the bathroom were all burned out, replaced with one glaring floodlight. Other bulbs were also out in the apartment.
3. The toilet seat, while clean, was so old, cracked and discolored as to look revolting.
4. The TV is not cable, just Apple TV, which would be fine, but the wifi is very spotty. I realize this is no fault of the host, but shouldn't be offered as an amenity if it doesn't work.
5. The circuit blew when we made coffee and toast at the same time.
It seems that the listing is no longer on airbnb. I suggest that if Adam wants to rent it in the future, he should attend to these issues. It has a ton of potential!
Adam was very welcoming, although he was out of town and the handoff to get the keys took a little work. The location is excellent if you want easy access to Central Park, 5th Avenue and the museums. The apartment was roomy, comfortable and open with a cool brick wall.
Very good host. Amazing house and amazing neighborhood.
Adam was a great host. He was very helpful and extremely accomindating.
I Stayed at Adam's apartment for 4 nights with 2 friends. The apartment was very nice in a superb location, just like the description. The host was also helpful during my stay. Overall it was a good experience; would recommend!
Adam's house is spacious and comfortable, even for 4 people as we were.
It should only be improved in some details (the shower curtain old and dirty, the kitchen is not just clean and the slats of the bed can be disassembled). We were however very good due to the fact that it is in a very convenient and close to Central Park.
On his profile on airbnb check out is flexible but we knew the check-out at 12pm only on the morning of the same day for the arrival of other guests but Adam has allowed us to leave our luggage until the last time that was very helpful.
We recommend the home of Adam.
Great in Some Things, Not So Great in Others
Pros: Probably three times the size of a typical hotel room - large living room, dining room, bedroom; comfortable (firm) bed with nice comforter; quick hot water; strong shower; surprisingly quiet at night for urban location (except for occasional heavy footsteps of upstairs neighbor); big refrigerator with freezer; full-sized gas stove; large bedroom closet; fluffy bath towels; spare towels in bag under desk in bedroom; no evidence of vermin; large (maybe 50 inch) TV; large dining table with 6 chairs; host prompt in getting building super to check out gas odor (a blown out pilot light); host contacted Verizon to try to fix WiFi problem; host amiable on phone and via email (never met).
Cons: WiFi unsecure and extremely slow for entire week; Apple TV slow; moldy shower curtain; hair in tub drain filter; open bathroom hamper contained dirty towels and clothing; filth-encrusted air vent above stove near ceiling; refrigerator and freezer 3/4 full of food packages, mostly open, some seeming quite old (no way to distinguish between host's food and detritus left by prior tenants); no storage space in kitchen cabinets - full of food packages, many open (no way to know what was host's and what could be tossed; two coffeemakers, both stained and broken; no microwave; very little countertop space in kitchen; no light fixture in living room; most light bulbs in kitchen, dining room and bath burned out and no spares to be found; bedroom light is single rickety pole lamp; only 3 clothes hangars in closet; yellowed pillows under white pillow cases.
Neutral: Far eastern part of UES; tiny shared balcony overlooking 65th; spare, inexpensive, serviceable furniture and decor leaving lots of floor space; ventilation via windows OK; very open floor plan; kitchen modest sized but OK for two people; loose banister on staircase; pet collar and discolored pet bed suggests host has pet so if you have an allergy, ask host.
Apartment felt more like first apartment of disorganized guy surprised by our visit rather than an apartment that had been scheduled four months in advance. Apartment has great potential, and could be wonderful. I can't recommend the apartment in the condition I found it, but would enthusiastically recommend it if the host did just a few things: (1) completely inspect apartment for issues such as filthy vent, moldy shower curtain, burned out bulbs and broken appliances; (2) hire a better cleaning service; and (3) provide sufficient space in refrigerator, freezer and cabinets for storage of guest's food containers.
Well... I've got little late from the airport but Adan was there for me.
we did not talk a lot but at first impression he was so nice. The apartment is big the only thing is that really need some fixing and serious cleaning. Many things are broken and no utilities at all.Sorry to say this but the shower curtain was very dirty with cloged bath all the time sauna doesn't work(even if is the last thing u think when u are in Nyc) so who cares but really need some painting and more lights(at night is too dark) huge tv with Apple TV wich I bought american history episodes without his permission but(I left him the money) very good wifi no coffee machine both broken... And smell gas??? I was even worry but everything was perfect! sorry to say this but if He fix things will be a wonderful place to stay... But for now...it is really up to you.
We had a grate time. Adam is a grate guy, very nice appartment. good location. hope to be back soon :)
Adam was a wonderful guest. He is a very nice guy, he communicated well about his arrival time and departure, and he was very clean and quiet. We also spent some time getting to know him and he is a great person to talk to and is very easygoing. We would definitely recommend him as a guest and we would be happy to have him back in the future. Thanks Adam!
