Hi, I'm Mary. I live in Washington DC, working on exploitive child labor and trafficking issues for the Department of Labor.
When not at work I am usually running, hiking, practicing yoga or exploring DC and the surrounding area.
Thank you Mary for your great hosting and fabulous room. The bed was really comfy and your house lovely. We found Mary to be really (email hidden) with information about restaurants close by and things to see in Washington. She made us lovely Christmas chocolates which I'm going to steal the recipe and she made us feel like relatives from out of town. Once again, thanks Mary!
I have absolutely nothing critical to write; I was so sad to leave Mary and her beautiful home after three months of living there! The house is lovely, very clean, and in a great location. I would second everything that Kate said in her review (below) -- Mary is the best! She made my first trip to the US so much less daunting than it could have been by showing me where everything was, and answering my many, many questions about American customs! I would not hesitate to recommend Mary and her house to anyone who is thinking of visiting DC -- I really hope that I get the chance to go back one day!
I stayed with Mary for about 2 1/2 months while I had an internship in DC and loved every minute. Mary is welcoming, gracious, and will go out of her way to make you feel comfortable in her home, which is clean, cozy, and quiet. I was fortunate to develop a great friendship with her and will return as soon as I can!
My bus to work was only a few blocks away and the neighborhood had everything you needed - shops, restaurants, bars, etc. In addition, my favorite spot in all of DC is Union Market and it was only a 15 minute walk away! Whether it's a short-term vacation or a long-term stay,Mary's row house is the perfect place for your DC visit. Did I mention she has Netflix?
We had started to use the AirBnB accommodation services a year ago when we took our 3 weeks holiday in US. We were impressed by the AirBnB service that we decided to use AirBnB again this year for our 2 weeks holiday here.
However, this time round, we were very disappointed by our accommodation from May 16 to May 18 2013.
We were disappointed that:
1. The whole house is dusty and dirty. The floor was neither vacuumed nor mopped before we came in.
2. The toilets were soiled.
3. The microwave was dirty so we could not use it.
4. The kettle was dirty and that we had to clean it before we could boil water in it.
5. The washing machine is also dirty.
6. The sofa bed provided came with dirty used linen and when we opened up the sofa bed, there were huge amount of dust underneath it which we had to sweep off by ourselves.
Mary's house was very clean and perfect for our group! Walking distance from great night life, bars and restaurants! She was very communicative and easily reached by text message if we needed anything. I highly recommend this location for your DC stay!
A pleasant quiet room in a peacefull house. Just 20 minutes walking from union station and Capitol.
Mary is a wonderfull small, but strong lady, who gives you the feeling to be home.
She helps you where she can help.
When I get back to washington, maybe next year , I'd prefer to stay there again.
We had a wonderful 5 day stay with Mary. Great host, great neighborhood, quiet, clean and Mary made everything easy for us while we were visiting our new grand babies in DC. I highly recommend this place for an individual or a couple. We will stay here again on our return to DC. Thank you Mary!
Mary spent one only night in my studio and given the late checkin and early checkout times we did not have much time to talk. I can say that Mary is a very nice person, punctual and trustworthy. Plus, she did not require much of my help as she seemd to easily find her way to the studio from the station considering the very late hour.
Mary left the studio tidy and in order. I hope I will have the honour of having her again in my studio in the future. I would recommend Mary as the perfect guest you may ask for.
All the best!
Mary has been an extremely nice guest to accommodate. All went smoothly through all required steps (booking, checkin, checkout). She didn't even mind the winter-like weather during her stay in Krakow ;-)). She managed the flat with care and left it in perfect condition. Definitely trustful and respectful person to be welcomed anytime.
Mary Francis is a very nice person, it's a pleasure to have her as a guest.

Mary was the perfect guest! I would have her back to my apartment anytime she is in NYC and I would recommend her to anyone!
I have been friends with Mary for several years and have watched her create an ideal home for visitors. She (email hidden), warm, and easy going and she knows DC. She can always (email hidden) to try in the city, from the best beer bar, to gallery, coffee shop (email hidden) to eat...I never need a DC Lonely Planet with her around! Her place is a wonderful and convenient place to stay, walking distance to excellent DC cafes, restaurants and bars. Easy access into all areas of DC including Union Station by foot, bus and bike. As a host and a place to stay this is what I look for on Air BnB when I am travelling.
