What a warm welcome! Manuela had lit a fire in the stove and supplied something to drink and eat, so we didn't need to go out for groceries when we arrived. Her appartment is located conviently. It's easy to get there by car and it's only a 5 minute walk down the stairs to get to the centre of the village. It was a great stay!
Une excellente adresse pour un petit séjour hivernal dans cette belle région du Portugal. La cheminée apporte beaucoup à ce sentiment d'être chez soi. Manuela est adorable et a su nous accueillir très amicalement.
Manuela is an awesome host! Very lovely person who does everything to make you feel at home. When we arrived she had already stocked the fridge with portable water, cookies and fruits!
The appartement itself got all you need: washing machine, dryer, tv and dvd set, a kitchen and and all the equipment you will need.
I would visit again anytime!
Manuela's flat is a great base for exploring the East Algarve. The flat is comfortable and clean and located in a quiet hill suburb of Tavira. Manuela is a great hostess, very attentive and warm and happy to share her tips!
The town of Tavira is charming and a super place to have a drink after a day at the beach. As for the beaches around Tavira, they are wonderful, especially in September! Don't miss Fabrica and Cabanas!
Our stay at Manuela's was perfect. Manuela is a charming, careful and very welcoming host. The appartment is situated in a very quiet neighborhood, everything is brand new, clean, and decorated with taste. Parking is very easy a few steps from the door. After a 5 min drive, we were at the ferry dock to go to the beach at Ilha de Tavira. This place is a must if you intend to stay in Tavira! Thank you Manuela
We had a lovely stay at Manuela's - it was just what we where looking for. She welcomed us with some freshly baked bread, cheese, strawberries, oranges (of course!) and a great big smile.
The place lets you be very independent, you have everything you need and with our friendly host living above - all we needed to do was ask and it was done. Manuela let us just get on with things but was always available if we needed.
As we were travelling light, the use of a washing machine, iron and hair dryer was very helpful (these can be difficult in some hotels).
I made good use of the coffee machine too - all equipment that was provided was in really good condition and make.
Plenty of English speaking films on the satellite channels or DVD player. I caught up with a couple I hadn't seen before!
Manuela let us use the windbreaker she had too - which can be really nice for down on Tavira Island beach - some winds coming in off the Atlantic can be powerful.
There is lots to do in Tavira, all within walking distance. Here is a tip - the Porta Nova hotel just on the other side of the river form the apartment has a balcony bar. Get up there on your first night (with a map) and you will get a great view of the city - and be able to get a feel of where you are pretty quickly.
Were there any downsides? We would have liked to have had a view from the apartment. Sometimes the walk back up the hill can be daunting - not just for the physical (taxis are cheap), but dogs can be intimidating. They are just doing what comes natural, and we weren't threatened - but my heart jumped on a couple of occasions in surprise. You get used to it, and them!
Once we had got used to it all, we found not only Manuela but the people of Tavira very warm and welcoming. We found a favourite coffee (and cake!) place, where we begun to know the staff. We got to know some of the 'characters' in town. You will get to know the guys who run the ferry to the Island - you need to use this every day to get to the beach. Its very cheap, and a nice trip in itself.
The restaurants are great, especially if you like your fish. We didn't bother with the curry houses - though we did go Oriental one night and the Sushi was good.
All in all - very hot sun, good people, cool town.
Tavira is a beautiful place and a great base to explore the Algarve area. Manuela's basement was perfect for us. We loved the fireplace for the cool evenings, the convenient utilities (washer/dryer for baby clothes) and the care she has obviously put in decorating the place in every single detail for the guests' comfort. Manuela was a very thoughtful hostess. I would recommend this place.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay in Manuela's large, lovely decorated apartment which comes complete with all the extra conveniences imaginable: dishwasher, washing machine-dryer combi, large refridgerator-freezer, etc. The already appealing atmoshere was even more enhanced by a fireplace that was blazing when we arrived on a cool night. Our delightful hostess had generously supplied the apartment with nice quality products to allow the guests to be immediately comfortable and feel "at-home." Another well-deserved compliment is how immaculately clean everything is, to include the fresh fragrances of the bedding and towels and fragrant soaps. From when we first communicated to the last moment of our visit, Manuela's personal warmth and kindness were such a blessing and gift because she genuinely wants her guests to have a completely positive experience. For all of this and more we are truly grateful. If you choose to stay here, you will have made the right choice!
