David is an excellent host. He replies to every messages very quickly. He left us with a ton of information about the cabin and surrounding area.
The cabin was great! It is located right on the side of a mountain with an excellent view. Watching the sunrise in the morning over the mountains on the back porch was awesome. You can't go wrong with booking a stay at this cabin. I would definitely stay here again.
David's cabin is located on a beautiful ridge about three miles below Skyline Drive and has a lovely view of the woods and valley. The decor is "rustic log cabin", but modern amenities including Roku and Starbucks Verismo are provided. Beds and showers are great. The floorplans are quite open, which is fine if you're traveling with good friends. We had a great time and would readily return.
This is a nice spacious cabin with a fantastic deck and view. It is perfect for 2 couples, but awkward for any more, unless they are children. In our case, one couple (the early risers) took the upstairs, the other couple took the downstairs. Each had their own bathroom. There is a closed door between them. One of the quirky things is that the upstairs bed is the first thing you see when you walk in the front door, and is part of the great room.
We enjoyed the area, the seclusion, and the scenery. We even saw a black bear cub in the neighborhood. The location is convenient to Shenandoah National Park, Charlottesville, many wineries and hiking.
The cabin was well equipped with kitchen, bedding and bathroom necessities. The only negative was that the refrigerator was quite full with old food when we arrived (vegetables, cooked hamburger patty, jars of salsa, etc.).
Good price, good location, good rental.
We really enjoyed our stay at David's cabin. It was clean and cozy and we loved the view from the terasse at sunrise. The short distance to Shenandoah National Park allowed us to take a couple of nice hikes there. Having a fully equipped kitchen was perfect to cook our own dinners and prepare breakfast and snacks.
Thank you again David.
The cabin is fantastic. Very peaceful setting and very well appointed. Very clean and comfortable.
We could not have been more thrilled with our cabin experience! Highly recommended for all seeking a quiet retreat in the area.
The cabin: More gorgeous than the pictures show, as it looks to be fairly new/renovated. It was impeccably cleaned - a testament to the cleaning service David employs. We really liked the furnishing throughout, and we felt that almost all appliances we could have wanted were available. We used the kitchen quite a bit, and were surprised at how much food was already there and available to us - a really great surprise as we needed little things like spices, etc that wouldn't have made sense to bring with us. The two balconies have a fantastic view, and there's even a hammock on one of them!
The host, David: When on a vacation, you want to feel carefree and relaxed. David's professionalism, care and proactive communication helped us stay relaxed the entire stay. While we didn't meet him in person, he left great instructions and a portfolio of local attraction brochures for us to read through. He was also quick to respond to our inquiries, so don't hesitate to reach out to him with questions.
Advice for those staying: It's important to realize how the cabin is set up, and I think previous reviews are a bit difficult to understand. The main floor has an open floor layout with the kitchen, TV/couch area, master bed and bathroom each occupying a corner. It feels fairly compartmentalized and is spread out so no issues in terms of spending the day, but if you plan to have people stay on both couch and bed keep in mind there is no privacy between the two. The bottom floor is essentially its own bedroom, with a private bath. We were two couples, so each took a floor and had no issues at all. However, if you're with a larger group, important to keep in mind. Also, the sharp turn to the cabin that's talked about in other reviews is there, but totally accessible with a regular car (we had a Prius).
David was an attentive and detail-oriented host. The cabin is very clean and lovely and a very relaxing place to stay, and the view is pretty unbeatable. Plenty of games and movies to keep my 3 kids, 19, 16 and 12, busy and happy. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking except that I couldn't find any measuring cups or a cookie sheet. Everything else you would need to cook a basic meal is there, which is a nice for a family of five; eating out for every meal with teenagers gets expensive! The beds are comfy, but if you prefer a firmer mattress take the downstairs bed, the one upstairs is a lot softer. Also, upstairs, the sunrise will shine in the large triangular windows over the door to the deck, so if you like to sleep in it might be a challenge. Didn't bother us as those sunrises over the mountains are not to be missed, so we were up for it anyway. Overall, we loved it and had a great stay. We'll likely be back to stay again.
Great experience. The cabin is in fantastic condition and has a great view. Well furnished, too - five of us were accommodated with ease.
I would highly recommend it if you're looking for a quiet escape into the mountains.
The stay at the cabin was very pleasant; it was accurately described in the listing and met all expectations. Especially appreciated was the solitude and the great view. The owner also provided useful local tips and recommendations.
The home was beautiful, and the view was especially amazing. We loved enjoying the porch with a nice drink. David was immediately responsive, and answered any questions we had. The driveway is steep, but didn't give us any trouble. Also, be sure to understand that the upstairs is a completely open floor plan. The bed is wide open to the kitchen and living space. Thanks, David!
David arrived late, and then left early. Only in town for business & just needed a place to land. I only met him briefly to help him get settled in.
David and his wife were wonderful guests. They were very friendly and kept my place safe and clean. I would highly recommend hosting them. They would be welcome back here anytime!
David was a wonderful guest. Friendly and nice, and took great care of my place. Recommended!
