The stay at the cabin was very pleasant; it was accurately described in the listing and met all expectations. Especially appreciated was the solitude and the great view. The owner also provided useful local tips and recommendations.
The home was beautiful, and the view was especially amazing. We loved enjoying the porch with a nice drink. David was immediately responsive, and answered any questions we had. The driveway is steep, but didn't give us any trouble. Also, be sure to understand that the upstairs is a completely open floor plan. The bed is wide open to the kitchen and living space. Thanks, David!
Place looked great and we really enjoyed out stay. Highly recommended!
David was a truly wonderful host. The home is lovely (pictures don't do it justice) and the environment serene. David provides guests with Roku, which was programmed for Netflix. This was a very nice amenity to have access to, though we spent most of the trip enjoying the gorgeous balconies and taking in the stunning views.
There are many wineries within close proximity to the cabin. We thoroughly enjoyed the Kilaurwen Winery, approximately a 15 minute drive from the cabin. Additionally, we had a wonderful brunch at the Lafayette Inn, which is also about a 10-15 minute drive away.
David was extremely responsive and provides guests with a comprehensive list of things to do in the area. The only down note was that during our last night, the smoke detector went off three times in a row around 2:30a. I believe the batteries may have been dying as we were unable to identify what could have triggered the alarm. Nevertheless, we will certainly be back to this mountain oasis!
Our host David was very responsive and provided accurate and welcome information about the cabin and surrounding areas of interest. Most helpful.
Our group consisted of two adult couples. This cabin was perfect for us. The cabin has one suite upstairs and one down stairs. There was enough privacy and yet plenty of common space to share a wonderful visit.
This cabin is truly at the top of a small mountain and the view was fabulous. During our stay we had a couple of brief rain showers which resulted in one of the best rainbows I have ever seen, right off of our upper balcony. It arched over the entire valley.
While the location provided the experience of being "away from it all", it was only about a 10-15 min drive to town with all of the necessities (to the east). It was also about a 10-15 minute drive to the entrance of Shenandoah National Park (to the west). Perfect.
This is a very new building that was nicely finished with higher end furnishings and amenities. We got what we were expecting plus just a little more. Not super fancy. Just nice. After all it is a cabin in the woods.
I would give David and his cabin home my highest recommendation if you are looking for a peaceful getaway that will allow you to be as active in the hiking and sightseeing activities as you would like, while still having all of the modern conveniences. He has a very satisfied customer.
Everything was very straightforward--we got there easily with GoogleMaps. We entered the password as David texted us ahead of time and we got in. There was a manual in the cabin and everything was clear--he had a list of different trails and different vineyard that he recommended. We ended up going to some of those, which were perfect. And it itself was such a cute cabin with good views and all amenities. My family loved it so much and they all though it's so worth it to stay there and we would love to come back if some time we are coming back.
We were looking for a house near the Shenandoah National Park with a nice view. After looking at the pictures and reviews we chose David's luxury cabin. We were not disappointed in any way. The cabin was really nice and view was superb. Only 5 miles from entrance to Shenandoah National Park with excellent views and fantastic hiking. Just what we were hoping for.
Very rural as expected and advertised.
The house was charming and views out the 2 decks were amazing. Kitchen well furnished and there was even a Starbucks "pod" machine for coffee. Beds were extremely comfortable.
Added advantage was really good internet for downloading reading for iPads. It was so restful we only used TV and Roku once but he had it set up for netflix and other channels if one wanted.
Nothing negative to say as the house was charming and area very relaxing. One assumes that anyone staying knows that it is a rural area and not a place one would go for gourmet restaurants etc. However there is a really nice restaurant David told us about.
He had a list of all sorts of activities in the area but we only did a few as our focus was on Shenandoah Natiional Park which was spectacular particularly in May with wild flowers. Relatively close to Charlottesville if one had activities in UVA or wanted to see Monticello as a day trip. However it was exam and graduation week so we avoided that area. Maybe next time. I suspect that there were some really nice restaurants etc in that area but again we didn't go there.
The house was very beautiful and perfect for our weekend. The views were great even though it was rainy. Very close to Shenandoah and to some wineries. Would stay here again if I am back in the area.
Great stay. The views are amazing, and you get into Shenandoah Park in under 15 minutes. The kitchen is really nice as are the porches. It's a great cabin, and everything was very clean. Just know that it is an open floor-plan, so the king size bed is on the main floor with the great room and kitchen, and downstairs is the other bed and pull-out couch, again in the same room.
This cabin met or exceeded all of our expectations. The view is unbelievable and the cabin has all the amenities you could possibly need. It's barely 15 minutes from Shenandoah. The kitchen was great. The cabin is very well furnished. Wifi worked well enough to be just connected enough to the outside world and the Roku kept Pandora going whenever hanging around. Recommend AWD capable vehicle as cabin is slightly off the beaten path but probably okay without it unless there is snow. I'd highly recommend staying here.
David arrived late, and then left early. Only in town for business & just needed a place to land. I only met him briefly to help him get settled in.
David and his wife were wonderful guests. They were very friendly and kept my place safe and clean. I would highly recommend hosting them. They would be welcome back here anytime!
David was a wonderful guest. Friendly and nice, and took great care of my place. Recommended!
