Aloha Kakou, I moved to the Big Island of Hawai'i from Germany in 2004 and would be very happy to welcome you in this cozy Hideaway Cottage. See you soon, in paradise!

Iris was so lovely! She spent a lot of time giving us a grand tour of the cottage and its amenities - as well as sharing useful information with us about activities. She is definitely a good resource for activity recommendations since she could also reference the experiences of countless other guests before us. She is an avid lover of nature and her spirit is really contagious. She is definitely there for you if you need anything.
The cottage was really beautiful and comfortable. The surrounding garden and natural forest were conducive to relaxation and privacy. The temperature indoors reflects the breezy cool climate outside. The porch is also a great place to relax, and also happens to be where our daily morning breakfast takes place. Not to mention, the home-cooked breakfasts that Iris prepares, complete with homemade breads and homegrown fruits, were unique, wholesome, and delicious.
Other pluses include free snorkeling gear usage, indoor shower with hot water, cooling bamboo furniture, reading materials, and an outdoor shower. We wish we could have stayed here longer!
The place is just beautiful and very quiet; we slept wonderful! Cottage is clean, spacious and furnished with taste. Breakfast on the own veranda just as wonderful with self-baked banana bread and rolls! The perfect place to stay a while; next time we stay 2 nights, thank you Iris!
My reservation was split, so I already left a review. I love Cottage Hale Huna! The description is quite accurate. Iris added a refrigerator to the cottage during my stay. It is a very nice addition to a very lovely place!
I plan on staying here again when I return to the Big Island.
I stayed here 3 nights, and thoroughly enjoyed it! Iris is a wonderful hostess. Her breakfasts are organic and delicious, and they include her home- baked breads and fresh local fruit. And she brings breakfast to the cottage. What a treat! Iris also gave me excellent recommendations on how and where to spend my days. When I return to the Island of Hawaii, I will definitely stay here again.
We had a wonderful time! We enjoyed staying at the Hale Huna. Iris was very helpful in places to visit, and explaining all the plants around the cottage. She had lovely stories to tell us about the different beaches and sites to see and wanted to hear about our adventures.
The breakfasts were so yummy! The fresh was fruit was delicious and the homemade bread so good we are still talking about it!
We can't wait to our return visit!
Iris is a great host, the cottage was EXACTLY as described and couldn't ask for more!
The place was impeccably clean, nicely decorated and secluded from any big urban areas, which was exactly what we were looking for.
Iris gave us recommendations about where to go the moment we arrived and it helped us a lot. She also cooked a vegetarian breakfast for us the next morning (we mentioned her that were vegetarians and she made sure that no meat was used whatsoever).
The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is only 45 minutes away and the Black Sand Beach around 20 minutes. This distances are nothing when driving on the Big Island because it is HUGE and almost everything is very far apart.
The Cottage felt like home and Iris like a welcoming friend that was truly happy to see us!
STAY HERE, YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID!
Iris place was a delightful experience tucked away in a beautiful, off the grid area of Ka'u. We loved our stay and hope to return.
Our stay with Iris was absolutely wonderful! We loved getting a tour of her garden and enjoyed the beautiful landscape. The breakfast she prepared was delicious and completely homemade! We were so impressed with her hospitality and genuine interest in helping her guests have the best time possible. If you're looking for a remote location to explore some of the finest beaches the Big Island has to offer, you should absolutely stay with Iris!
We had a fantastic stay in Iris' cottage, it is a lovely and quiet place surrounded by a beautiful garden. The breakfast served by Iris every morning on the deck is delicious, including homemade bread and fruits from her garden. It was exactly what we were looking for!
Some mosquito outside and sometimes in the cottage at night, so make sure to bring repellent.
A very friendly and welcoming host greeted us when we arrived after a slight adventurous detour when finding the place (which was our fault, the directions clearly said not to trust GPS). Clean and nice cottage, delicious breakfast and a great tour of the garden before we left. Iris very caring and helpful and really makes you feel at home!
No bugs in the house, but some mosquitos managed to crawl into the cottage. Bring mosquito repellent and remember to close the door even for the smallest moment (and Iris will remind you about that).
