We had a wonderful time at Meerkat Manor. The house is decorated beautifully with a rustic, modern edge, and hidden away from the other houses. Mackerel Beach is a mini utopia away from the hustle and bustle of Palm Beach, and is well worth exploring. The moment you step off the ferry and walk through the Forrest (which looks like Thailand!), you feel as though you've left the world behind. We want to come back soon. Would be great if a few more logs were there as it gets cold. Loved it. Thank you for having us.
Mackeral is a amazing location a great beach and bush walks and just a short pleasant ferry ride to Palm beach. The Manor is a great value stay in a prime location.
Had a brilliant mid-winter week at Meerecat Manor. The sun shone throughout our stay and we had a ball walking, kayaking, feeding the parrots and kookaburras, and generally lounging about on the fabulous beach. It was cold in the shade, but the open fireplace and heatpump kept us toasty in the mornings and evenings. Would love to visit again sometime when the water's warm enough to swim!
Had a really fantastic time. Mackeral is like stepping into a bygone world. The minute we stepped off the Ferry it felt like we were no longer in Sydney but in some idyllic country spot. The isolation was great. We will be back!
Andrew's Mackerel Beach house is gorgeous. We stayed 8 days, partly for a relaxing beach holiday, and partly to give some hospitality to Sydney friends - it's ideal for both. The fact that you're a ferry ride away from any shops or internet takes a little getting used to, but once you do, you realise that's a bonus. Beds are comfortable and the seating areas, decks and balconies are great for relaxing. Lots of wildlife all around - birds, goannas, wallabies, possums... Kayaking with picnic to the nearby beaches is a great way to pass some time. Parking on roads near the Palm Beach ferry is easy - no need to pay the v high day rate in the car-park. Although it's great for a weekend getaway, try an be there during the week when it's totally quiet and peaceful. Would stay again in a flash
This is a fantastic house on a very quiet beach. It has large open plan living space with a good sized balcony.
We had an amazing time relaxing amongst the forest watching rainbow lorikeets, bush turkeys and goannas go by, very peaceful and we would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Also Andrew has been great to deal with and made everything very easy.
What an amazing stay ! The house is in perfect conditions (makes going back home harder!) and Mackerel Beach is probably the best kept secret in Sydney. It looks like a lot of work to go to a remote place but it was actually super easy.
The only concern we have is if too many people hear about it, we may not be able to come back !
We had a really great time at Mackeral Beach and Meerecat Manor! It's such an idyllic spot, and the house is lovely.
Andrew was a nice and friendly guest, even left me flowers. Only communication can be improved, got a very late response abt the check out time. And some things were broken and it would have been better if he would have told me this instead of leaving it for me to discover.
