I have not met Maria in person, but communication was very easy and also, she was very flexible regarding arrival times and keys! Nice and quiet spot!
Maria's elegant and chill pad provided the perfect retreat for my first visit to New Orleans. First of all, Maria is awesome. She's cool and smart, and very much in tune with what's happening in the city across a variety of perspectives: from food and music to art and sociopolitical. In fact, she is quite the artist and designer herself and has some of her beautiful work hanging on the walls.
With not much notice, she agreed to host my two-day visit. Maria's impeccable space is quite spacious with original architectural features. My upstairs room was large with tall ceilings, an A/C unit (I didn't use it as these old houses were built with effective cross-ventilation in mind), and a very charming bathroom next to it. Her mid-City location was perfect in that you can access most parts of this great city quite easily: although you can easily walk or bike to City Park (amazing museum and sculpture garden, sports fields, botanical garden, train ride, 24 hr beignets and cafe oles!), Bayou St. John (I was fortunate to experience Bayou Boogaloo), the beautiful Esplanade street, and many cemeteries, it's only 1 minute away to the nearest Canal Street trolley car ($1.25) to access these sites, other trolley lines, and the French Quarter. And it was easy and quick to get back from all the great music on Bourbon and Frenchman streets, via the trolley, even late at night.
I fully intend to come back to New Orleans, primarily because my experience at Maria's bnb was such a positive one, allowing me access to the real parts of this amazing city. Thanks, Maria!
We were glad to get Maria's place last minute during Jazz Fest. (We weren't even in town for Jazz Fest, we just made a last minute road trip.) She was very nice, and I loved the vibe of her place. It's really close to a street car, which is a major plus!
Wonderful little nest in NOLA!
The two of us really enjoyed being Maria's guest over the New Year's holiday. The studio was clean, quaint, and as per the photos on the website. She was very accomodating, and arranged clear instructions upon our arrival.
Neighborhood was quiet, and a quick cab ride (or walk in warmer months) from the French Quarter. People walking dogs, and friendly exchanges on the surrounding streets.
Maria left a fantastic list of 'Must See/Do's' for us during our stay. We felt like true locals, and couldn't have been more pleased!
Space is recommended to any single or couple travellers, who are looking to get away from commercial lodging and traditional hotel decor.
Maria was a wonderful host with an awesome home. Unique is the perfect word for this place. It is comfortable and different without being overwhelming. She has a great little place in fairgrounds. The location is a pleasant walk from fairgrounds & etc. and she is a pleasant and great person. My girlfriend and I had exactly what we needed here for a thanksgiving weekend. Awesome home well worth the cost.
Maria is an awesome host! Very friendly and nice, she gave me good suggestion on the city and offered her help at any time. She also gave me a ride to the bus station the day I was leaving!
The room and the house are nice, clean and in a safe neighborhood. The French district is about 25 mins walking or 5 mins by bus, which stops right behind the corner.
Enjoy you stay with Maria!
Maria was an amazing guest! Clean and very respectful. Came home to a very clean place. She left it in the exact condition that I gave it her her in. She is welcome back anytime! Great guest! Great guest!!!
