SN Mansion (Sarasinee Mansion) a service apartment in Bangkok, Thailand, which offers daily and monthly accommodations to visitors both from Thailand and from abroad.
We had booked this location via Airbnb.com which showed us an attractive and great spacious modern furnitured room, nice painted colour walls and stylish decorated interior!
How wrong can the reality be when we arrived at the hotel.. The reception "lobby" looks more as an low budget bed and breakfast sleeper instead of a modern hotel like Holiday Inn Express when you see the rooms showed on their website!
After checking in we went to our room on the 9th floor, room 908.
When we opened the door we were so disappointed about the given room. It's totally not comparable with the pictures on their website! This room is a copy of the rooms of a local hospital back in the 1960! The only "modern" decoration in our room was the tv model 1990. There is one wooden closet with ugly hangers, a mini fridge, an outdated working table and two single size beds covered up with stained sheets.
The bathroom is really a disgrace however the boiler and toilet are working surprisingly well. Except the ventilation engine that sound so loud, this is so loud that we decided not to switch it on when we are in the bathroom! The floor in our room are surprisingly clean! Thank God.
Our corridor on the 9th floor is truly in need for a new paint. Infact the whole hotel need a total renovation! When you walk to the elevator you will see around the corner a waste bin closet with open doors. You as a guest will see all the garbage from your level piled up! That is to my opinion not such a view you want to bring back home in your memory..
On the hotel roof you will find the swimming pool.
The two nights we were at Sarasinee Mansion the pool looks clean and well maintained.
Infact the pool is a positive facility during our stay.
We did not moved to another htl due our late arrival from the airport. So we stayed the next day again just to regained our energy and to compansate the time differences from our European time zone.
Overall the whole hotel need a total renovation and Sarasinee need definitely to remove the old pictures on their website. Those pictures are MISLEADING visitors to its current hotel situation and conditions!
The three only positive issues here are the outstanding helpful receptionist named Soi, the roof pool and the hotel location which is loacted in a nice suburban area surrounded with local eatery and cafes. But I will never visit Sarasinee Mansion again. The whole building need a major renovation!. There are far more nicer accommodations available in Bangkok with the same price tag. As stated already by other previous guest, I will not recommend this address to my friends or relatives unless you are truly desperatly.
Unfortunately I can’t recommend this place. ///
At check-in, I met a guest downstairs who had spent one night and was
leaving to find another hotel nearby. This put me on alert. ///
Whatever room the pictures are of must be a “model” room, because my room
was much more dated and aged. The bed looked very clean as in the photos,
but the drapes, furniture, bathroom, walls, etc, were very aged and just
‘felt’ old …stuff like built up dust/grime on the light switches and some
small ants in the bathroom. There was indeed a pool and fitness center, but
both were the same as the room…dated, unmaintained, etc. I didn’t swim in
the pool but the water looked OK. I didn’t use the fitness center, it was
much too hot and although a sign mentioned A/C, I couldn’t see anywhere to
turn it on in the room – but the equipment in here looked pretty bad, and I
wouldn’t trust the old weight machine they have with the risk of injury. ///
After seeing the room I went and changed my Airbnb reservation to 1-night
only, requesting a refund, and went downstairs and informed the reception I
would only like to stay that one night. They said it wouldn’t be a problem
(this was at around noon, before the check out time for the next day).
However, later in the afternoon I noticed the request had been denied, and
when I went downstairs I talked to the manager and he actually was trying
to force me to pay for three nights minimum, when that policy is stated
nowhere on Airbnb. After trying to explain to him that I tried to cancel
and change BEFORE » the check out time of the next day, he would not
understand and allow the reservation change, so I was forced to click
‘cancel’ on the entire booking the next day so that I could at least save
my money from one night. ///
In the end I was forced to pay for two nights when I only stayed one. The
manager would not work with me, and would not even come downstairs to talk
to me in person (he stayed on the telephone while I was at the front
desk)…VERY disappointing “customer service” from the person in charge. ///
Bottom line: this listing should not be on Airbnb, and I can’t recommend
Sarasinee. It might be worth reserving ONE night if you need to stay in
this exact area and NEED a pool on your roof, but no more than one night at
first, and I recommend having a backup location. ///
Lesson learned: NEVER reserve more than one night unless a listing has a
ton of positive reviews.
Nice Large apartment with most amenities you would expect and some
bonus like a 2nd bathroom; not a really high floor but a 4th floor view is
good and it is off the busy street by a block so nice and quiet. The lobby
atrium area has a great cafe that a couple runs and you can even order
take out. They also rent motorbikes-very handy to get around and to the
old city area of Chang Mai. Staff is friendly and helpful too.
All in all a good experience and value for the money. BUT...
They still owe me back deposit money and I have NOT heard from them due to a mistake.
