We had a great experience staying with Nate and Ingrid.
First of all, the reason for our visit was unfortunately really intense; my brother suddenly passed away and we needed to stay in Portland with just 2 days notice to attend services. I would totally understand why anyone would actually say 'no' under the circumstances, just in case things got awkward or uncomfortable for the host. But Nate and Ingrid were kind and incredibly respectful of our privacy without ever calling out anything really obviously. We had no reason whatsoever to feel we were being intrusive or unwelcome.
Their house is cozy, clean, perfectly laid out... and great for anyone who loves to cook and really get into their food (as we do). Having a very active kitchen ourselves, I was able to find everything exactly where it "should" be, ha ha! - it was like staying at an old friend's house. We got to chat with both of them just a little bit, as they were either working or we were with family. But I would love to visit again and get to know them both more. A welcoming, "very Portland" couple indeed.
We couldn't have asked for better even under happier circumstances, let alone something like this. Seriously, anyone who would open their home to strangers in town for a funeral must have hearts of gold. I am very thankful for their kindness.
My stay in the Blue Room at the Duke residence was relaxing, carefree, and thoroughly enjoyable. I found the hosts to be laid back, friendly, knowledgeable of the Portland area, and a real pleasure to deal with. This residence is a very charming craftsman style home that is wonderfully decorated and very cozy. The Blue room was just what I was looking for: quiet, clean, and accessible 24 hours a day. You can stop looking for a place right now- this is the one you want to rent.
I had been in the house for a short time and I miss it then in the airport , Meantimes I do think Nate is in very responsible and welcoming life style. They are very friendly and knowledgeable, I like the way he treated to me. I really love him and his beautiful wife Ingrid, I got the luck also talk to her brother in law Eli, He is really a Dr. of everything, He could get you solutions of any problems, and very friendly, I appreciated for their optimized space between the people. It kept me warm , safety , and feel staying in my home. Definitely, I will have the same choice in my next return to the great Country.
It was such a pleasure to stay at Nate's house. He and Ingrid were incredibly welcoming hosts, really responsive and helpful, fun to talk to and gave us plenty of tipps where to eat, drink and stroll around. Their house is a rare treasure: Beautifully furnished, calm, clean, with a lovely backyard. Plus in walking distance to coffee shops, bars, boutiques & Albertra Street.
We had a great time and would definately stay there again! Highly recommended.
I had an enjoyable time in NE Portland and wish I would have been around more to talk with Nate, Eli and Ingrid. The three of them were very welcoming and interesting to talk to. Communication with Nate was always quick and thorough. I appreciated his interest and questions before I booked--the sign of a great host!
The room itself was perfect for my two week stay. The bed was comfortable and the desk afforded a great place to work. The rest of the house is kept very clean and has a lot of interesting flair to it. It's within easy walk of Alberta Street, including bars, restaurants and coffee shops. Recommended!
Easy access to public transportation, comfortable room, knowledgeable and friendly host, and a great city. Definitely coming back the next I am in back in Portland.
Nate and his wife Ingrid were excellent hosts, happy to give us info or directions when we needed them and happy to be hands off when we were fine going about with our own plans. We had some enjoyable conversations.
Their home is quiet, orderly and filled with homey and very aesthetic touches. Our double bed room was not large but comfortable, and sharing the bathroom was no problem. I'd certainly recommend them to friends.
Nate was a great host. The house is in a nice location on a quiet street and is decorated very nicely. My room was great and you could tell he really put in the effort to make it welcoming. He's happy to let you do your thing, or answer questions in you have them. Great place to stay overall with an easy 10-15 min walk to Alberta and only a half block to the Kennedy School.
Nate was not only accommodating and a great host, but his brother Eli who greeted me and made me feel at home was a blessing. If you want to be around just solid human beings and enjoy your stay in N.E. Portland, this is the place to be. I am honored to have these two brothers as new friends and couldn't thank them enough for having me in their home for a month. My bedroom was comfy, cozy and the house and garden in the back were a haven. Simply a great stay, highly recommend.
Nate was out of town, his brother took care of us. He was super nice and friendly, so was the other guest. The house is really cute.
nate is awesome!
i've known nate and his family for several years now. he's sporatic and fun but a dependable host. the setup at the house is great, the entire main floor is basically yours to use. and he lives close enough to some amazing portland things as well as northeast enough to access the gorge and great portland outdoors.
would happily stay there all the time but i already room with his brother :P
Nate was a guest at my house this past year—I couldn't ask for more respectful or considerate company. Stay with this wholesome maniac and have your mind blown by the potential for human goodness.
Nate is amazing, and his house is a top-notch place to place your wandering feet. Nate has a light and caring heart, and an easy humor to match. Your world will be better for having met him. His house is warm, tidy, and in a great location. Don't think twice about staying here!
I highly recommend staying with Nate in his beautiful NE Portland home. He has a coveted garden, lovely home, with plenty of room for guests. He is a very fun, inviting and an intelligent guy to boot! I love hanging out around the backyard fire pit and listening to him, the man is hilarious! You'd be doing yourself a favor if you chose to stay there. Bonus is the neighborhood is sweet too! Close to beautiful parks, grocery stores, Alberta street and not far from Downtown!
My boyfriend and I lived with Nate when we first moved to Portland. Nate is a great housemate! He is fun and clean, and has a great garden and video game and movie collection. My best memory with Nate is making pickles with homegrown veggies! I can't imagine a better Airbnb host.
Nate and his wife are amazingly friendly people and their home is so beautiful. I'm jealous of their garden and the good news is that I get to taste some of the goodies sometimes! Any Portland visitor would be lucky to get local recommendations from Nate, he knows the best stuff happening around town and also great nature spots to explore.
Nate is awesome and your life will most likely become more awesome as a result of staying with him. I've known him pretty much forever and would join a fan club if he had one (wait, does he have one?) He's an up-standing kinda dude and has been known to serve up delicious food and hilarity to those in his life. Interested in movies? So is Nate! Interested in video games? Whoa, so is Nate! Interested in being awesome? SO IS NATE! Wow - you should stay with Nate.
