What a brilliant weekend! Our host was welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Loved listening to the sound of the waves as we fell asleep. Guests should be encouraged to bring books, paints and music to enjoy a relaxing weekend! Bliss!
After an adventurous trip through the High Atlas, we finally found Douar Samra, a small village above Imlil. Even at night and in the dark, they helped us with luggage and we got warm food. The tree house was pre-heated and everything was as illustrated by the pictures. Really good first impression!! The food during our 2 day stay was good and the people were friendly and helpful. They also organized a hiking trip with the best local tour guide Hassan (ask for him, it's worth it) :). Overall great experience, even if we were covered in snow for 2 days! Prepare for moody wheater in March!
The reservation was canceled 3 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Fabulous, all the reviews are spot on. It's a fabulous privilege to be there . We had a stunning time.
amazing location and there are no words to describe the feeling of waking up to the noise of the ocean. everything was inclusive and the meals were very delicious!! the best experience we have had in morocco
This guesthouse and our stay in Imlil was the highlight of our trip. The surroundings were amazing and the staff at Douar Samra were on par. We ate wonderful traditional meals with the other guests and swapped stories. I would highly recommend a stay.
We were both absolutely astounded by the breathtaking view when we arrived. The cave was very comfortable and we loved being next to the roaring sea and open skies. We were happy with the food and Doudou's a wonderful host.
DarMassa Fishermans cave is an absolutely beautiful place... raw beauty on the edge of the world. If you're looking for some time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is the place for (website hidden) this is Morocco, so make sure you know how to speak some Arabic, or at the very least you should be able to speak French.
The Treehouse is just divine. The design is so warm and cozy and the views spectacular. It is truly a special place. It is hard to explain what a wonderful the treehouse is to stay because it is not just an accommodation but the full experience of the place. Meals are eaten communally with other guests in a traditional Berber salon decorated beautifully -- and at night lit only by candle and fire light -- so atmospheric. Rachida is Jacqueline's house manager and facilitates everything --with the help of Muhammad-- and cooks all the delicious meals. The food was some of the very best that we had our entire time in Morocco. There is lots to do nearby, particularly if you are interested in walking/hiking through the sublime landscape! I really cannot recommend it enough! The only downside was that the internet did not work the entire time we were there.
My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights October 2011 and were extremely impressed with everything about our stay. If you are looking for peace, quiet and somewhere to recharge your batteries this is it.
We arrived at night so where not able to see much of the location but Doudou the manager / cook who speaks perfect English quickly produced a fantastic two course dinner which we ate on the terrace which was only 10 metres from the sea so we had the lovely sound of the waves.
Early next morning we could not wait to get up and explore, we loved being able to step outside our bedroom onto the terrace and have a fantastic view of the beach and ocean. While the location was remote [just what we wanted] we could see the village of Tifnite approx 1 kilometre which we walked to several times, depending on the time of day you can walk to Tifnite on the beach if the tide is not due in or along the sand dunes above the beach.
As Dar Massa is positioned half way down the cliff with access by concrete steps we would not recommend it for people with restricted mobility.
There are two beautiful double bedrooms, large terrace, lounge all decorated in traditional seaside blue and white and the elegant touches made it a truly romantic hideaway, you are able to use the kitchen facilities should you wish to make a drink when the manager is not there which is unusual and very welcome. Doudou is always extremely friendly and helpful should you need any information or advice.
We feel we cannot write this review without making a special mention about the food, the breakfasts were varied with combinations of the usual bread, jams, honey, omelette, pancakes, fresh fruit all served by Doudou at a time which suited you. We found that the large breakfasts set us up for the day and lunch was not needed. Evening meals where every bit as good with local fresh caught fish [large enough to feed four] and chicken with vegetarian as an option, again we were asked what time we would like to eat each day. The food was plentiful, beautifully presented and was better than much of the food we ate in many Moroccan restaurants.
To sum up bring a good book a couple of bottles of wine, chill out and enjoy the tranquillity of a truly special place.
I have known Jacqueline for over 10 years, and was lucky enough to be invited to spend a few days in her unique cave hideaway on the Atlantic coast, south of Agadir in southern Morocco.
We have just returned from one of the most enjoyable holiday experiences of our lives! Picture this (with your eyes closed!)……. a shimmering white and Majorelle blue cave dwelling, perched high on the cliff side, overlooking an almost deserted sandy beach.
Azure blue skies, dazzling sunshine and cooling seas, full of soaring seagulls and fresh fish! But nothing could have prepared us for the absolute comfort and delight of our simple, yet very stylish surroundings: a huge outdoor terrace for sunbathing and alfresco dining,
our own comfy bedrooms, a separate cosy lounge for the evenings and wait for it – a proper enclosed shower room & wc, whose walls were amazingly decorated with tiny pieces of mirrored mosaics. The icing on the cake however, was our charming housekeeper Doudo, who not only attended to our every need, but went out to catch fish straight from the sea for our barbecue every night! We were in heaven!
Jacqueline is amazing! So warm and so kind! Staying with her is like being in Heaven - her homes are beautiful with great attention to detail. The food is delicious and the service is wonderful. I can not wait to be under the sheltering sky of Morocco again to re-live the experience.
When you stay with the lovely jacqueline you only leave so you can return. Each of her homes are full of style and warmth and it would be impossible to say which is my favourite... each has its own magical experience enhanced by good food, good wine and lots of laughter. Go... you will not be disappointed!
