Larry and I are down-to-earth folks who love cycling, boating and any kind of outdoor pursuit. Larry is an incredible home builder and we both love to create beautiful homes and spaces.
This fabulous cabin in the redwoods was recommended to us by friends and did not disappoint. The wood stove kept it cozy on rainy days it had all the comforts of home. Most importantly for us, it was a little off the beaten tourist track in Sonoma but still convenient to hiking, wine tasting, the coast and civilization. We're already excited to go back again.
This cozy cabin completely exceeded our expectations; from the exquisite design, incredible finishes (shower flooring -- wowee!), comfy bed, and a tidy little kitchen that has everything you need to cook a meal. The setting is secluded, yet it has 21st century upgrades like free wifi and AppleTV - a total bonus! Close to wineries, Armstrong Redwoods State Park (great hiking!), and a full-scale grocery store a short drive away. We absolutely loved every detail, especially the faux paper plates and fancy tea selection. We never actually met Katrina, yet arrangements were completely seamless, and she did a great job of communicating with us from start to finish.
The 500-word allotment for this review is insufficient, so I'll boil it down to six: Book this place; it is perfect.
To add just a bit more detail:
-The architectural design! This structure is impeccably designed. We spent hours relaxing by the fire, marveling at the dark wooden beams, and angles that draw the eye upward toward the treetops...which were visible through the well-placed windows.
-The lighting!!! If you are picky about lighting (i.e., you think lighting is one of the most important aspects of a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere), this place will blow you away. Every main light in this location can be controlled to the point of perfection.
-The furnishings! All were extremely tasteful, and yet cozy.
-The amenities! Everything provided (cookware, bathing accoutrements, bedding) were all very high quality.
-The location! This place is surrounded by redwoods on a steep hillside; there are other houses around, but you won't notice them and you'll feel extremely secluded. It's just a short drive to tiny Cazadero, Guerneville, Armstrong Redwoods, Goat Rock beach, etc.
-The price! Extremely reasonable. You have almost certainly paid more for far less, in a worse location.
-Etc.! Spotlessly clean. Luxurious shower. Huge stack of firewood and fire-starting equipment (I need those fireproof gloves!). Extremely modern and technology-friendly but not in an obtrusive way.
Book at least one more day than you think you should. This place is incredible.
We love this place! This is our second stay and we are already talking about a return. This is a beautiful modern cabin, perfect for two. It's great for a weekend or longer stay. Our last stay was a week. It's comfortable, CLEAN, and has everything including a BBQ, great kitchen and fast internet service. The location is also great, 10 minutes from the coast, and 15 from world class wine tasting. I tell all our friends, and would highly recommend that you stay too!
The cabin is fantastic, magical. My partner and I stayed there for two days. It was our first weekend away together, and we wanted something very intimate and romantic. When we saw these pictures, we knew this was it. The feeling of being surrounded by a beautiful forest is accentuated by the relatively sparse, clean architecture and decoration, and the wood burning stove. This house also showed me that a shower is a room, not a fixture, no matter how large or small.
The hosts left quite a few helpful little foodstuffs and various items around the house that would not necessarily have assumed, but were very helpful. My partner was sick, and they generously offered some of their personal cold medicine. We felt so very welcome.
We are cyclists, and we found some beautiful riding close by, despite the wet weather. We will definitely be coming back in the warmer, drier months to stay longer.
Katrina's cabin is truly amazing. Even though the weather was rainy the weekend my wife and I stayed there, we could have not asked for a better place to be. The house was super clean, cozy with a great layout. They kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and all the other cooking essentials. Would not hesitate to recommend this place.
Immediately upon leaving this wonderfully cozy and tastefully appointed cabin, I looked at the calendar to see when we could go back! Everything was so comfortable and clean--it was truly the best of everything you could want in a restful get-away home--the unlimted fire wood to burn, the exquisite thread count sheets, the heart shaped Le Cruset dutch oven--just to name a few. The hosts really how to provide for a wonderful vacation home. We can't wait to return.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Katrina's amazing cabin for a weekend in January, and our stay was nothing short of wonderful. We absolutely loved the cozy, cool vibe of her home. It was incredible comfortable and well provisioned to do anything from cooking dinner to relaxing next to the fire. The amazing central location is definitely worth noting, too. Its a short drive from Jenner and Duncans Mills, and larger towns like Healdsburg are a beautiful 45 minute or so drive. Katrina was more than accommodating with our schedule, and a joy to work with throughout the entire process. We can't wait to return for another magical weekend in the woods. Thank you, Katrina!
True to the prior reviews and pictures. This house was beautiful. The location was great and we knew just what to do with the help of a binder full of reviews, directions, and brochures. The appliances were all brand new and everything was spotless. We definitely appreciated the small touches like the apple TV and chemex coffee maker. Perfect place for a quiet weekend away.
We came for a long three day weekend and had an absolutely lovely stay! The reservation was quite easy to set up as Katrina was very responsive by email. The cabin itself was cozy and warm and a great launching pad for visiting the nearby Armstrong woods, Russian River, and coastal hikes along highway 1.
