I'm from Malaysia. I have a small cooking school for tourist/travelers. I'm also a certified tour guide. Always happy to host!

We first stayed in the fan room. Well decorated in local style, clean, spacey, with comfortable big bed. But it is so close to the street with constant noises that we could not sleep. We moved to the second room with a/c which is quieter and cooler. The room is also nicely decorated and with a comfortable bed. The host is friendly and nice.
It was alright. We had almost no communication with Nazlina as she seemed busy with her cooking classes. So there was almost no host-guest connection. Someone called Peter was however helpful and welcomed us.
My partner and I rented both rooms for three nights while visiting friends in town. The place was really nice - better than we expected at that price! If you're looking for a hotel experience, this isn't the right place for you. We wanted to feel like we were living in Georgetown, and this place met that perfectly. We slept in the front room. It could be a bit noisy at night with cars and music, but we live in a city and are used to that. The rooms were clean, comfortable. The bathroom was a nice size, and I love the semi-outdoor feel. The location was amazing - we pretty much walked everywhere.
Both Nazlina and Peter were very friendly and helpful!
Nazlina's building was conveniently located to many George Town attractions. There are only two rooms for rent, so for most of my stay I shared the entire building with just one other guest - this affords a lot of privacy.
The room was quite large and the bed very comfortable, but as others have noted it was quite noisy - it's essentially open to the street: there are blinds to ensure privacy and shade, but they don't filter out sound at all.
I didn't speak to Nazlina very much, but I did join a conversation between her partner Peter and a friend of theirs in the tourism industry, and appreciate them both sharing their perspectives on how development is proceeding in, and affecting, Penang.
This is a super nice place and great location...I was very comfortable with the property and Nazlina is really a super great lady...Took
a cooking lass with her too! And ate the best food of my whole trip!
I forgot to take my leftovers :(
All in all a great place to end my 7 month trip!
Nazlina was very welcoming and offered to take me to the local shopping Mall so that I could buy in some stores. She also was a mine of information about Penang, and travelling around the city. Her home is a fascinating traditional Malay house. I very much enjoyed going on one of her food tours and cookery lesson. The unfortunate part of that was it spoilt me for any of the other (very good) places to eat in Penang!! Thank you, Nazlina, for sharing your home with me.
Nazlina' s is as described, a simple room with bathroom a short hop across the balcony. Whilst the arrangements are basic, they all work well. A small issue with bedding was resolved very quickly by Nazlina and she was very helpful with information about places to eat nearby. Location is good with easy access to the bustling parts of the old town.
Nazlina 's place. Really nice location in an amazing town. She was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
we enjoyed our stay at Nazalinas. The location was very good and the information given by Nazalina and Peter was very helpful.
We also enjoyed the cooking class and would recommend it to anyone interested in food
Great cheap accommodation option in the heart of historic Georgetown. Walking distance to all the major attractions of Penang and a great little base. The room is quite large but as others have commented it is noisy due to the proximity to the road and no glass windows, (which from the look of most buildings in the region will be the same elsewhere) otherwise a clean and nice place to stay.
The hosts are lovely and accommodating and you should really get into one of Nazlina's cooking classes. Thanks so much for having us stay and meet your family.
Naz was a lovely lady.
Nazlina is a fantastic guest and an amazing person, and, obviously. a spectacular cook! She prepared twice a special menu for us, and for me helping her was so a good experience, I understood that it's possibile to have fun preparing dinner, for the first time! She is an easy going person, and it's possible to talk for hours with her
