We loved our stay in this cabin, especially the screened dining area -- we ate and played cards there every night.
Neighbors Ron and Susan welcomed us and recommended two local spots to visit, both of which we enjoyed thoroughly -- it's a beautiful area.
Thanks, Melissa, for being such a thoughtful host and for sharing your delightful cabin!
We greatly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful little cabin in the mountains! Melissa is very flexible and easy going and Susan and Ron (neighbors) are extremely helpful to make sure that you find everything you need and enjoy the place to its full potential. The cabin is pretty much off-the-grid and a fantastic place to get away and slow down from a busy life for a while. (And our two dogs loved the large outdoor dog kennel!) The surrounding area is stunning, with lots of hiking trails and lakes. A great place to thoroughly enjoy beautiful northern California. We loved it and highly recommend it!
Melissa is a great host, everything was taken care of before arrival.
A silent place which I prefer for my meditations, though of the grid, the cabin was fully functional with generator and water tank.
The neighbours Susan & Ron were incredible helpful and I ended up with all these guys as new part of my family.
We had a wonderful time on Melissa's houseboat! The interior was more spacious than we thought it would be, and the location was absolutely stunning, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby.
Since the weather was great, we were able to sit outside to read and work on most of the days. The water and sky looked so perfect that I even remarked at one point that I felt like I was sitting in a coastal painting.
Melissa is kind and responsive through email--a wonderful AirBNB host. I highly recommend her houseboat if you're looking for a unique experience in a beautiful neighborhood.
Loved it! Melissa was prompt and courteous. She met me at the dock the first day and showed me the ropes. Living on a boat has it's peculiarities (marine head - therefore only 4 stars). The boat is neat, clean, well stocked and totally functional. The location is fabulous - views to die for and walk to everything! I stayed aboard a month. The time flew by and I was sad to leave. I would stay here again. That's the best recommendation I can make.
We had an absolute blast on Melissa's 'floating flat.' It was a great way to escape the city for a quick trip without traveling too far. Super comfortable with everything you might need included! You'll probably spend most your time on the back patio enjoying the great weather and watching the active sea creatures. The houseboat community was a little raucous this weekend (it was labor day weekend), but besides for that, no complaints!
I would recommend it to anyone!
Truly a unique experience for a land rat. Make sure to spend some time on the front deck in the afternoon. Vivid sealife. The light. The colors.
Don't pass up this gem, it will truly be an experience of a lifetime! My partner and I spent 2.5 months on Melissa's wonderful vessel, and we had an absolutely magical time! The boat itself is fantastic: beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable, and the location cannot be beat! You'll never forget sitting on deck and sipping a cocktail as you watch the sun set over Mt. Tam with seals and otters splashing just feet away. And Melissa is an incredible, gracious hostess; she helped make sure that the boat could accommodate two people and our belongings for the entire summer. Don't worry about sharing the space with another person. The boat feels very airy because of all the windows, and the split level makes it easy to have personal space and separation. And the two deck areas give you even more space to spread out.
Pros: wonderfully kind hostess, beautiful and unique accommodations, unbeatable scenery, fabulous neighbors and community, perfect location, permanent right to brag that you got to live on a boat in Sausalito :)
Cons: None! Take the plunge!
This houseboat is really an exceptional experience. For a long weekend or for a fortnight around the Bay area, like for me. (But as couple you must be used to cohabitate on small space.) The houseboat is perfectly located, not in the rather lonesome real harbor zone, not in the kitsch and regularly overcrowded "Sausalito", right between. Good food, shops, cinema, etc. just nearby. The neighbours are friendly, lent me a bike. Melissa is a nice and trustful host. No hassle at checking in or out. When I called her once at midnight that the power broke down (due to really bad luck with a cable, the boat is otherwise perfect), she immediately offered me the cost for a night in a near motel and next morning the cable was replaced.
Melissa and her guest were very kind and respectful. We met only briefly, but Melissa was very warm and friendly. They left the room as nicely as they found it, which of course is appreciated! I would recommend Melissa as a guest to others.
Melissa led a group of 8 California artists as they spent a week in my home in the south of France. She set a convivial atmosphere and she is an amazing artist herself! I look forward to an experience on her floating bamboo raft in Sausalito.
