I was born and raised at my city, St. Petersburg. I lived for several years in Israel, but returned home and now I think where I would still like to spend the next few years. Maybe you recommend? ))

Alexander made us very welcome, along with his lovely wife Tanya. We had some problems with the taxi from the airport but he was very helpful.
the apartment is very homey and very like the listing, but our room was somewhat darker. the neighborhood seemed just fine, as over our stay we came to feel it was a real residential area but with shops and restaurants, convenient to the tourist center of Petersburg, but at the same time not part of that atmosphere. It was busy and cheerful.
Being with Alexander and his family was really special. the flat shows Alexander's home improvements, and it was cheerful, spotlessly clean, and perfect for privacy. As it is on a lower floor there is no climbing stairs, but that accounts too for the lower light in September.
For us, being in the home of this family was what one hopes for. It was a privilege of the internet that we were able to have this experience. I would definitely stay with Alexander again if I had the chance to return.
St. Petersburg is a fantastic city. More so ff you have the chance to stay in a genuine apartment with plenty of Russian vintage charm. Alex and Tanya have welcomed us warmly and with true hospitality. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet and beautiful.
The location is central, with bakeries for breakfast in walking distance. The night cafes, restaurants and bars are just round the corner in Rubinstein (website hidden). Petersburg Metro is nearby, and so are tram and bus stops.
We also had the benefit of a fantastic tour of the city with Alex's friend Dmitry. We would certainly love to return to beautiful St. Petersburg and to stay there again one day.
Ребята очень гостеприимные, район хороший, все было отлично. Комната очень милая. Рекомендую)
Again enjoyed staying at Alex's and Tanya's house. Thank you again. :)
I spent two very pleasant weeks at this apartment. The room is a decent size with a large bed and a big window. It's decorated in a fun, eclectic style, making it really feel quite homey. Alex and Tanya were genuinely hospitable and welcoming hosts, who made me feel comfortable. The location is great -- an easy bus ride to Nevsky, the metro, and to the major sightseeing spots in the city. The neighbors are a bit rowdy, but the area is safe and there are several nice cafes nearby. If you're interested in an authentic and relaxed St. Petersburg experience, you can't go wrong with this place.
Alex and Tanya are the best people I have stayed with. So friendly and welcoming. Location is great ! Room is comfortable. I really enjoyed staying with them. Everything is as described. :)
Perfect stay. I loved the charming atmosphere of the apartment, Alex and his wife were very kind and welcoming hosts, the neighbourhood is full of gorgeous buildings and packed with local un-touristy bars and restaurants (the Penguin pub, the Rubinstein street): what else could want?
Alex is a very friendly and helpful host. His place is very nice and looks exactly the same as photos, stylish and tidy.
We enjoyed our stay in SPB so much and we do recommend other visitors to stay there too.
Myself and my girlfriend had a great stay with Alex and Tanya. The room is spacious and imaginatively decorated, with plenty of room to spread out. The location is handy for the station (if coming from Moscow), the metro (though beware that the metro closest to the apartment is closed), grocery stores, and Nevsky Prospect (which is about a 15 minute walk). The building itself is quiet and tucked away off the street, and visitors shouldn't be put off by the appearance of the exterior.....the inside is what counts, and is very comfortable.
Alex and Tanya were great hosts.....friendly and helpful with advice on where to visit outside of the main tourist spots. All in all was a great experience, and is great value for the price. I would recommend to anyone.
I had a great experience at Alexander's apartment. They room is just what it looks like in the pictures. There is fresh air from the courtyard, and a comfortable room that is nicely decorated.
He and his wife are lovely, helpful people. The apartment is quiet and it's in a really fantastic area (just about 10-15 min. walk to Nevsky Prospekt). There is a supermarket nearby, as well as a metro station and plenty of restaurants.
I hope to go back to St. Petersburg again, and if I do then I will stay with Alexander again.
Alexander and Tanya are SUPER nice and friendly people. They will make you feel so at ease at their home, they are warm and funny and I immediately felt welcome in their home! They gave me detailed maps and helped me decide on the best walking routs). The reason I chose and I would recommend their house is because it is authentic (just like them). It is not flashy or touristic but nice relaxed and in a great location in the center of the city.
we stayed with Alex and his lovely wife in their cozy apartment at the center of St. Petersburg at summer 2011. They are friendly and intresting people, very positive and smiling. They showed us around, took us to a great local concert and a night bike trip.
We are looking forward to meet them again somewhere in the world...
I have stayed with Sasha (Alexander) and Tania twice. They are a sweet couple, who practice life's best practices (Life itself, Art in various forms, Family, and Friendship!). In my eyes, they embody the "soul" of the real people of St. Petersburg, who are way more relaxed and friendly than the people of Moscow for example.
I can not imagine being in St. Petersburg and not visiting these guys who I now consider Friendmily (Friends + Family).
Highly recommended!!! :-)
