Avid outdoors person
This place was immaculate and cozy. I stayed there for the entire month of August and felt it was the perfect location to enjoy Lake Tahoe. The bike path was two blocks away to go down into town and plenty of activities at the ski lodge.
Norma was very helpful as a host and offered a lot of suggestions for outdoor activity.
The kitchen was well provided for with quality, sharp knives - as a cook something that I rarely find in rentals.
The place has been mostly updated but still has the feel of the ski lodge era it was built in.
Norma's cabin was beautiful! The interior was welcoming, with a sleek, easy-to-use kitchen and cozy living room area. The 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms worked perfectly for our group of 4 friends. We immediately felt at home upon arrival. Norma was very helpful and responsive in the time coming up to our reservation. Overall a very enjoyable stay!
The reservation was canceled 299 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Staying at Norma's house was an exceptional experience. Everything was as expected. Even though we didn't meet in person, she was always available via email/txt.
The house is conveniently located is just minutes away from the base, 7-11 and Tahoe Dave's (gear/clothing rental). I hope to return to Squaw Valley for my next snowboarding adventure!
Very sweet cabin--perfect for a Tahoe getaway, right in Squaw Valley--minutes from the Village. Very well stocked 2 bedroom with 2 full bathrooms, very comfy beds, and nice kitchen with everything you need for meal preparation. Close to the S. Tahoe trail system, which we found to be a recreational plus in the Summer for cycling. I'm sure in the Winter months, this cabin will serve as an amazing ski getaway! The owners were very responsive, and bent over backwards to ensure we were comfortable and had a great stay. This included leaving us detailed mountain biking maps of Tahoe with hand-written instructions. We were very impressed and would definitely return!
I stayed at Norma and Dave's house at the "Heart of Squaw Valley" in early March and it was a perfect choice for a couple with one small child. The house has a rustic cabin feel but is actually quite spacious and the layout is excellent. A combined space with a very well-equipped kitchen and a comfortable dining room/living room with high wood beamed ceiling serves as the main living area. A picture window and wood-burning pot belly stove form the room's centerpiece. (There's a wood shed outside with pre-cut wood and kindling for the stove, which provides great warmth.) The bedrooms are well separated down a hallway, which was great for putting a toddler to sleep and not worrying that she'd be disturbed by noise in the great room. The smaller bedroom was perfect for a child, but could suffice for a couple, and the master bedroom is spacious with a high ceiling and connected bathroom.
The location is excellent as well -- on a quiet, charming residential street off the main road into Squaw Valley -- but just a 3 minute drive from the ski area. Tahoe City is close by too -- maybe a 10 minute drive. There are no mountain views, but the house is surrounded by a pretty wooded (and this time of year snowy) area. Neighboring houses are close by, but not too close so there is plenty of privacy. Norma and Dave live in a building attached to the cabin, but there are no adjoining walls and it really feels separate.
As others have mentioned, Norma and Dave are excellent hosts. They left us alone to enjoy our stay completely but were available for helpful suggestions -- for example they provided sleds and suggestions on the best spots to take a toddler. Finally, as a testament to their hospitality: when the refrigerator broke down the morning after we arrived, they were thoughtful and proactive about the problem and presented a fair and workable resolution without our having to ask or figure things out on our own.
It's clear that Norma and Dave take immense pride in their rental house and are willing to do whatever necessary to ensure that their guests have an excellent stay. Highly recommended.
One of the nicer places we've stayed in. Great location (convenient to skiing), good amenities, and comfortable furnishings. Owner has a great music collection. The fact that there was no cable or radio (maybe we just didn't know how to tune) made it feel like vacation in no time. They do have a DVD player and there's a redbox at the 7-11 down the road for those nights that we needed to veg out in front of the tv. Kitchen was well equipped, and with a dishwasher too. The owner (Norma) was very responsive and provided ideas and suggestions. Looking forward to coming back to this or trying their other places
Heart of Squaw Valley is a super clean, well-kept little cozy cabin. Especially the kitchen is very well organized and equipped with high quality utensils. The house has a very European feel to it and is decorated very tastefully. The little stove in the living room makes it extra cozy. You can't beat the location, just 5 min to Squaw Valley Resort and even closer to the cross country area.
Norma was very helpful during the booking process and she is flexible on check out times. We will definitely be back!
Our stay and our host were absolutely incredible. If you are looking for a place in Tahoe look no further. We stayed in this adorable home for two nights. The house is really charming and everything feels very nice and new yet authentic to the area. The real charm of the place was our host, Norma. While we had the house to ourselves she did absolutely everything she could to make us comfortable. She left us food, fruit and coffee and even a little gift of soaps and lotions. Norma also went into town to pick up some bikes for us and helped us take them back in her van. She answered all our questions promptly and with much enthusiasm and her primary goal was to make us happy and comfortable and she was willing to do anything to make sure that happened. All in all it was a flawless experience that I would recommend to anyone.
Our stay at the 'Heart of Squaw Valley' was better than awesome! What a nice home it was. Norma made sure our stay was very comfortable and she even left us some goodies in a gift bag. The home was well stocked with all the essentials. We didn't do a lot of cooking, but if one wanted to, the kitchen has everything you need. The location of the home was also great - very close to the Squaw village, and almost along the bike path you can take to Tahoe Vista.
Great experience. We look forward to staying here again on our next visit.
