my name is Mitja and I am a 25-year old student living in Freiburg, Germany. I study English, Geography and Politics to become a teacher at the University of Freiburg. However, I am currently on a journey to Eugene, Oregon where I will study for one year from the end of September onwards.
I really like to travel and I have had a lot of travel expereince so far. After a high school year in Iowa City, IA in 2004/05 I finished high school in 2007 and spent a year in Togo, West Africa. There, I lived with an awesome host family in a small village and tought English and PE at a local school. Ever since I have been very interested in the history, culture, politics of African countries and visited 9 countries in East-, southern-, and West Africa so far. I am also very much interested in African arts and especially in African music from all parts of the continent.
Generally, music is an important part of my life. I like to listen to a lot of music. Mostly I lisiten to Jazz, Hip Hop and different African styles but also like Rock, Alternative,... I also like Electronic music, Funk,... and really enjoy to dance to good music. I used to play the guitar but haven't in a while but are planning on picking that up!
Besides, I like photography a lot, which means taking pictures and edit them at the computer. I enjoy camping and back packing, cycling, reading, fitness. I also like to cook, especially with friends, to have a glas of red wine and to meet friends and enjoy life.
I am really tolerant, interested, hospitable, empathic, mindful and since I have had noumerous intercultural encounters very open minded!
I am very much interested in new cultures and meeting new people. This is also why I think to stay at peoples homes is one of the best and most important ways to get to know new people and to get a deeper insight into foreign cultures.
Am very much looking forward to meeting you!!!
