I went to Houston to do an observation at a hospital, without knowing anyone. The day I arrived (a Sunday afternoon) Jeremy was not in town so her friend did the check in (no instructions were given at all). When I texted Jeremy for instructions, he didn't answer me. So I manage to make everything work, the TV (I could only see 10 channels), the oven wasn't working. So I texted Jeremy and he answer, that he will go in a couple of days and repair it (he did). After a few more days, I get into the bathroom and the bathtub was full of the water and food that was drained from the kitchen. He called a plumber and he was there after 2 days of that. One week later, the hot water isn't working (in the hole building) and that took for almost a week to be repaired. And in my last 5 days the gas isn't working, the laundry (not from the apartment, but paid) wasn't working as well. So after all of this, I asked Jeremy for a partial refund and he agreed.
The location is good. Other than that, this isn't really a place worth staying. There are other places in the same area and price range that are much nicer. The host makes no effort to make your stay more comfortable. The sheets were covered in dust and fuzzballs, and looked like they were from a yard sale. The Febreeze left clearly visible in the bedroom gave me a pretty good idea how the sheets were "washed."
The banquet-style kitchen chairs were also covered in dust. There was hair in the bathroom from a previous guest. The couch had tears in it with cushion showing through. The fridge had liquid, sludge, and crumbs all over the inside. I didn't want my food in there.
There is a difference between minimalism and cleanliness. The building is older and that's fine. I just stayed in a place that was built in the 1920s and it was very clean and well kept.
I won't be staying here again. See his other listings. It's obvious what is happening here.
I had a very poor overall experience. The host was very difficult to work with. When I arrived Jeremy was unavailable to meet me and instead left a key under the mat. Upon arrival the apartment was very dirty. The bathroom, kitchen, and refrigerator appeared to not have been cleaned. Throughout my stay there were other problems such as the stove not working, there were no cleaning supplies, the host refused to provide me with a vacuum, and was just overall unpleasant to deal with. However the location of the apartment is ideal and the space is large.
Amazing location (proximity to museum district/rice campus AND a safe, quaint neighborhood) and overall excellent stay. Host was kind and flexible.
This is a very large, older apartment in the Museum district. The neighborhood is very quiet and from what I experienced very safe. It is close to Hermann Park which is one of my favorite places in Houston. Sparsely furnished but it has all that you need for a comfortable stay. The apartment was clean but a little TLC from my OCD got it to where I really like it. The hook in the living room ceiling is great if you are traveling with a bicycle. The kitchen has the basics for cooking. The stove-top works, the oven does not. The flat screen TV and cable work fine and the internet service is faster than expected.
Jeremy is a terrific host. Very responsive and a nice guy.
I would stay here again if the apartment is available for my next trip to Houston.
P.S. I left 3 containers of scratch made bolognese sauce in the freezer and pasta on the top shelf in the corner of the kitchen if you need a quick meal. It should be good for a month from the date of this post (10/27/2014).
I had a wonderful stay at Jeremy's apartment! It is in a great part of town, very safe with nice neighbors and convenient to many necessities like CVS Pharmacy and lots of restaurants. I even hit the consignment shops nearby. I didn't get to meet Jeremy in person, but he was just a phone call away! As he listed in the description this apartment is for a minimalist. There is no tv, but the internet signal is perfect and I just watched tv on my iPad. It was a lovely stay and I hope to stay again when I return to Houston! Highly recommended!
My parents found Jeremy and co. to be very accommodating during their stay. Though there were some initial issues with the internet not being active, they were quickly resolved and the rest of their trip went smoothly.
The pictures of the apartment were accurate. The neighborhood was okay from what I heard. Even though it was pretty close to the highway, neither of them complained about any noise. They didn't use the kitchen at all, so there weren't any comments on that. Overall it was pretty much as advertised.
I stayed in the apartment for three weeks while visiting Rice University.
The apartment is conveniently located near the Museum district and Herman park, in a quite neighborhood. Jeremy's place is big and spacious.
The apartment had a big kitchen and a large stove and I could cook for myself, which was nice. Additionally, there is a washing machine and a dryer in the building, which was very convenient.
However, I have to admit that I didn't feel comfortable while staying in the apartment, since it was't as clean as I would usually expect from an AirBNB listing. I think that the host could have done better job preparing the place for visitors that are going to stay there for this long.
I would add that in general the place could use some renovation, especially the bedroom.
Another thing that made my stay there less comfortable was the AC unit in the living room that didn't work properly and made it impossible to stay in this room for long periods of time. While Jeremy tried to help and sent a technician right away, he didn't manage to fix it and I was left with a broken AC unit for almost half of my stay, which forced me to spend most of my time in the bedroom.
Jeremy was a great host, the appartment is exactly as described,
