Great place and great company. Jayla is was a fantastic host and great company. He let me choose the bedroom I liked more and made my stay nice.
My friends and I really enjoyed staying in this apartment. It's very big in comparison to other places that I've stayed before. Comfortable for 3 or 4 guests. Clean and good located. I would recommend it if you are visiting New York for the first time. Jayla was very responsive and friendly.
We stayed with Jayla in June 2012. Jayla is very flexible and accommodating. When we missed our flight back to Australia, he let us stay an extra night at his place within short notice.
Jayla is a very pleasant host: he told us that we could call him at any time if we had any problem with the flat and he gave us some useful tips on the neighborhood.
His flat is very functional and East Village is a great area to stay in while you are in New York. It could however had been a bit more clean.
Great experience! It hasn't been the first time but NY is always surprising!
The apt is well located, good point to start visiting the whole city. Room enough for 4 people. One real bedroom and a second one good created. Subway 10/15 min. on foot .The area around the apt full of nice restaurants and pubs. Jayla, the owner, nice and friendly.
We spent a wonderful time.
Jayla is nice person, we saw him twice as he lived in another place during our stay in his apartment.
Apartment is quite clean and spacious, there are one big bedroom (very confortable) and the other bed is in "living room" next to the kitchen. So one couple had nicer conditions to live.
The area is safe and quite, surronded by nice restaurants, bars, very close to East Village nightlife (St. Marks street and etc.)
I just wish the metro is closer... it is around 15-20 minutes by walk.
But I can recommend this place to stay in NYC. Absolutely better than my last stay near Times Square.
This ws not a good choice. The pictures are 10 years old, the bathroom failed a couple of times during my stay and Jayla was not available as you may expect. It is too far from the subway. On top of that, we forgot some clothes and, after many phone calls and mails, we had not been able to have Jayla sending them to us. I would not recommend Jayla's appartment.
My daughter and I were on a 21st birthday trip, and she wanted to stay in a neighborhood, rather than a hotel. We found Jayla's place, loved it, and it worked out great. Near cool restaurants and clubs, the subway, and easy to manuevre from there. Jayla was super accommodating!
Jayla is a great host. We pretty much had the entire place to ourselves as he works long hours. The bedroom was actually HUGE; the pictures do not do it justice. It had plenty of storage space and a decent size desk for storing our computers. It also had a private entrance for the master bedroom, which was great for when we were coming and going so late in the night. The bathroom was actually quite large as well and the water pressure and shower heat was excellent.
The location of the apartment is great. Close to a lot of nice bars, restaurants, etc. Public transit is about a 10 minute walk, so not too terribly bad. If you are looking to stay anywhere in NYC, East Village is probably one of the nicest, cleanest and safest areas with plenty of access to everything you could want. I'd definitely come back to Jayla's place again.
