The house was just beautiful! Lenja's parents waited for us until midnight and we found some awesome chocolate and sweets all around the house, which was warm and comfortable.
The place is calm and silent, yet near to Maribor and Ptuj where you can find some nightlife.
There is a near supermarket where you can easily find food.
The apartment was perfectly clean and we found everything for cooking and sleeping.
We didn't get a chance to meet Lenja in person, but her parents were exceptionally friendly and also fluent in English! They chose some wine for us from the house's cellar and walked us to the local pizzeria, and to see the family of donkeys next door. The suburban village itself is tiny -- the neighbors have chickens in the yard, and opposite is a corn field and farm with cows -- still, there is a good-sized supermarket and an ATM a few blocks away. It's a lovely oasis from which to take day trips to Ptuj (a beautiful town) and beyond, then come back and relax in the garden. Our children loved it (there's a waterpark in Ptuj as well).
The host made us feel very comfortable, the house was clean and comfortable had all the needed amenities. Beautiful garden and area would rent from again.
Staying at Lenja's place in Velika Nedelja was just perfect. Everything in the house is so charming and comfy, it's really a "time machine" as other people said. You can feel the vibes of a house that actually was and is home of memories and good feelings.
We were a group of 5 friends and chose this place because it's very well located. You can easily visit eastern Slovenia (Ptuj, Maribor really close), head to Graz (less than 1,5hrs driving) and Croatia (Varazdin, only 20mins away and Zagreb less than 1,5hrs driving). So Velika Nedelja is really wonderfully positioned. Plus, Velika itself is nice with an interesting castle that you can visit with a short walk from home.
The house has a huge garden (we were there in winter time so could not take advantage of it), three comfortable rooms full of trinkets and nice details, bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a nice porch where you can share your time drinking good slovenian wines, playing or reading.
Moreover we had a great welcome from Lenja who is a perfect host, she really makes you feel like at home, gives many interesting advises on places to visit. Was really appreciated.
Please visit this place, take your time, relax, explore, do whatever you want and ENJOY :)
We really liked this cozy house. It has everything you need and feels like home. Lenja's parents were really warm and show us a restaurant close to the house where we had the best mushroom and sage soup EVER. A great choice if you want to explore the Jeruzalem wine area, Ptuj or Varazdin in Croatia.
It is hard to find words for our stay in Lenja's house...
We had the greatest welcome ever and Lenja and her family have been really most helpful hosts before, and during our stay. House is just lovely, we enjoyed every moment there and will keep great remembers of stars (falling stars and milky way iying in the garden!), candles and good wine. Every suggestion on things to do, see and taste were just perfect and a visit to mr. Samo is definitely mandatory if you are thereabouts.
Forget about staying in Maribor and enjoy peaceful and beautiful countryside in and around Velika Nedelja, and wine district in Jeruzalem. A stay in Lenja's house worths itself a visit to Slovenia! Hope to come back soon! All the best to you!
well, this house is like a time machine that takes you back directly to the best moments of a childhood: big garden, ideal for playing hide & seek, or throwing boules ... and when you'll go in there is your typical granny house: lots of wood, rocking chairs, candles and loads of small cosy thingies, that really makes you feel like home ... there is no TV or internet ... at first this might seem like a bad thing, but it is actually a blessing that lets you spend more time talking, reading books, playing board games, sipping tea or wine or glenmorangie that will welcome you on one of the tiny tables ... explore the region: the views on the vine-planted hills are breathtaking, as are crisp dry local wines :-) ... lenja and her mom darja are wonderful and responsive hosts, that provides everything (and i mean everything) you might (and might not) think of - even the wonderful local cream-cheese pie, delivered to your door at arrival ... great stay!
