I write books, teach, lecture and cook breakfast if I am around.
I am quite eccentric and spend more time in my Roald Dahl-esque shed in the garden than I do in the house. I should point out that my 'Folly' would not attract the £100,000 Lottery funding donated to relocate Roald Dahl's shed if I wanted to move mine somewhere a bit closer to a station. Alternately reclusive and sociable, I love people and I don't care what I look like when I dance although, much as the family are fair game, I won't embarrass my guests. When you come and stay, or book in for Study Coaching, the dancing stops.
I am, despite the 'bonkers' image, boringly responsible, driven by an unshakeable work ethic and consequently I am dependably conscientious. Others tell me I am inspiring and students are extremely complimentary.
Some residents stay for a term, a weekend or a week for individually tailored study coaching. I also offer a literary consultancy service for new creative writers. New writers are invited to stay for one to one support from Saturday at 10am until Sunday at 6pm for 5 hours coaching each day and responses to their work. Coaching rates of £30 per contact hour include preparation and written feedback.
A flexible and integrated approach to studying in the UK often works well for students from overseas, especially during their first year when new study methods and distance from home can seem daunting. Residential home tutoring supports success. . University of Buckingham students, staying here as residents with or without additional private study coaching, use local taxis and friends with cars to travel four miles to University from Thornborough.
