My wife and 2 teenage daughters stayed at Jonah's boat on 3rd and 4th of July. Jonah is a really nice guy and works hard to provide excellent hospitality. How people would enjoy this experience depends on their expectations. We found it to be wonderful. It is a "boat camping" experience in terms of kitchen and bathrooms but a "luxury hotel" experience in terms of beds and comfort. Like any boat except very large 100+ foot yachts the facilities are more "RV" than "hotel". The beds are extremely comfortable and the area is quiet. If you enjoy sitting on the spacious upper deck or screened in second deck, having a glass of wine, watching the fog and the boats come and go into Richardson Bay, and you don't expect to cook meals for 8 people, then this is the place for you. The views of the fireworks in Sausalito were perfect. This is close to my favorite grocery store anywhere (Mollie Stones" and also close to several restaurants that are not downtown in Sausalito (like Le Garage). You can walk to Kayaking, several restaurants and the Bay Model, or just walk along the bayfront. This is an easy drive to downtown Sausalito as well. I would also recommend it for people bringing bikes to ride around Southern Marin County, it is very convenient to everything. Also, there is very strong signal for wireless access (4G) at least for Verizon which we used. The kitchen is appropriate for small meals, it has 3 large burners and is about the size and equipment level of a nice 50 foot travel trailer, and it is well equipped although if you don't know how to use a French Press for coffee there isn't a basic drip maker. However, the French Press makes wonderful coffee with the tea kettle that is provided. The fridge is sizeable. The owner uses this boat a lot and has clothes and food there, so if that is something that bothers you (it didn't bother us and it is stored neatly with plenty of room for visitors) be aware. The small living room cabin by the helm is spacious and charming.
The photos do not give this place justice! My two friends were visiting me in San Francisco and I wanted to have at least one night away from the fog of June gloom so we took the ferry to Sausalito and lived like royal celebrities on Jonah's boat. There were several vases of gorgeous fresh flowers for us and baskets of fruit. He even let us borrow his captains hats that he had on board. The giant Bose speakers were also a great touch.
The dock is within walking distance of the famous Fish restaurant. We ended up meeting up with Jonah later that night and hanging out with his (email hidden)! At the risk of setting expectations too high for the next guest (I'm not sure if this is a regular thing), Jonah also left us breakfast food -- including salmon that he had smoked himself.
The entire experience was a dream come true...
Great place to stay
Shoot, I have a couple french presses and a kettle to left of the stove.
