Grahame and An were wonderful hosts and I would definitely come back to their lovely home.
We absolutely adored our stay with Grahame and Ann. Beautiful home, loving hosts, an adorable dog who was so kind to our pup that we brought with us. Breakfast was incredible and lasted us all morning. Grahame and Ann were so accommodating and helpful with all of our questions about where to go, what to eat, what to see, and directions. We had such lovely conversation with the hosts, and wish we could have stayed longer!
The room in this charming and beautiful house was very comfortable and the hosts were very friendly and welcoming and made a great cooked breakfast. I very much enjoyed my stay here!
Lovely home. Lovely room. Lovely hostess. Great breakfast. The town is very cute and it has a waterfront view that I really enjoyed. A real home away from home. I am going back soon.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Nan's Nook B&B! The room was cute and cozy, the breakfast was phenomenal (with lots of coffee!), and we felt very welcomed and comfortable there. We brought our dog, and Grahame and Ann were both very sweet to him, and he got along great with their dog. Even though we were in Port Burwell during the "off-season," we still found plenty to do, despite the rainy weather. The area, while remote, is easy to navigate. If you're looking for a humble and quiet getaway to relax and recharge, this is the place for you! We we definitely be back.
We had a wonderful time during our stay at Nan's Nook. The house had an old world charm with a comfortable sitting room to read in as well as a more cozy art studio where we could chat with other guests. Our bedroom was sweet and the bed was possibly the most sleep inducing I have had at a B&B. The breakfast was great and had an endless supply of coffee for people like me. Grahame and Ann were a delight to chat with and supplied us with recommendations for wineries as well as the Sparta Tea Room which has scones to die for. Be sure to see all of the local port towns while you are in the area, each has it's own charm. As a writer, my mornings spent with coffee and my journal in the sitting room were well spent. Once again, Grahame and Ann were a joy to meet. Perfect hosts.
Ann and Grahame followed up on my multiple emails and telephone calls. They were lovely and calming. The house is in a village and the lake is only half a block away. Restaurants within walking distance. Everything was as described or better.
Great place to stay! We stayed for one night for a wedding about ten minutes away! Grahame was on top of arranging transportation for us and even ended up driving us to the wedding to help us out! Bedroom and bathroom were nice and clean. Beautiful art by Ann! Breakfast was delicious! Wish we had more time to explore the area but we enjoyed the time we had. Thanks Grahame and Ann! :)
Our stay at Grahame and Ann's exceeded all of our expectations. My girlfriend and I are students from Toronto (both in our early twenties), and we stayed for three nights at their B&B in September 2014. We had a wonderful, unforgettable time. Their big, beautiful old house is charming and immaculately kept. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with everything you need, and there's even a lot of other space around the house that Grahame and Ann allow their guests to use for reading, relaxing, etc. Breakfast on the patio was delicious and generous every morning; make sure to try their garden-grown tomatoes in the summer. We didn't have time to enjoy their pool in the back yard (because we were exploring the stunning beaches every day) but it looked perfect for a hot afternoon. The location of the B&B is unbeatable: a few minutes by foot from the beautiful beach and the attractions in the town, but still on a quiet and tranquil street. Port Burwell really is a gem in Southern Ontario.
In addition to the appeals of the house and its location, Grahame and Ann are extremely friendly and pleasant hosts to interact with. Although you can always enjoy as much privacy as you want, you can also enjoy an interesting chat with them, be it at breakfast or later in the day around the house. By the end of our stay, we felt we'd made real friends with Grahame and Ann. This really added to our stay and made it special.
Getting to Port Burwell from Toronto can be difficult without a car. Grahame helped us immensely by arranging for us to be picked up at the Greyhound station in Woodstock - an hour's drive away! He even offered to drive us back there at the end of our stay if we payed for gas. This demonstrates just how helpful accommodating these hosts are. Thanks again, Grahame!
Unexpected perks: The walls of the house feature many of Ann's impressive oil paintings, as do the walls of the highly recommended Erie Cove Restaurant in town. Grahame and Ann are well known in Port Burwell and were able to able to arrange a bike rental for us with a neighbour, which turned out to be free of charge! Their little dog, Lacey Loo (I hope I spelled that right), is very sweet and friendly.
In summary, I would recommend Grahame and Ann's B&B to absolutely anyone who seeks either a peaceful getaway from the city or just wants to visit a delightful town by the beach. You can count on Grahame and Ann to ensure you feel comfortable and relaxed the whole time, and that you'll make the most of your trip to Port Burwell. They create a warm, friendly, welcoming atmosphere, while getting the balance of offering plenty of privacy and excellent company just right. We really hope we can visit again in future.
The house was very charming as were the hosts working their English charm to help everyone feel at home and find their way around.
