I am an educator with a passion for my work and a love of travel!
I am the principal of a charter school in South Los Angeles. It took me 8 years to open it and 2014-2015 is our first year of operation! Running the school takes a huge amount of time, energy, and emotional investment and I have really appreciated AirBnB for some wonderfully rejuvenating getaways.
While the school has temporarily put it on hold, I LOVE exploring the United States and the world! I have visited 25 states (including Alaska), and 17 countries on 6 continents. My favorite places so far are Orcas Island (Washington State), New Orleans, Istanbul & Cappadocia (Turkey), Cork (Ireland), and Cuzco (Peru).
I have been traveling since 1990 and I have NO IDEA how I ever did it without the internet. With stuff like Trip Advisor and Airbnb venturing into new territory is so much easier!
As for my travel style (something recommended in the "tips" below). On longer trips (2 months or so) I usually travel alone but like to meet up with friends and family for parts of the trip. In the past couple years I have increasingly started to do short, local trips with my boyfriend and his children. It makes me really appreciate the variety and beauty of California!
Sometimes I keep to myself and like to be alone, but for longer trips I usually like to stay somewhere that I can meet fellow travelers or locals. I'm generally low key and pretty flexible, but I have noticed that as I have grown older I have come to really appreciate a hot shower and a comfy bed.
