I am an artist, a native San Diegan, a swimmer, animal lover.
Deirdre is very interesting and very friendly. We chatted with her quite a lot about her travels, the crafts she got in her house, her ceramic arts etc. She even showed us her workshop where she painted the tiles and burned some of the ceramics that we see around the house. She invited us to her pizza party with many of her friends that rotates through each member's house and just so happened to take place at her place when we were there. It was absolutely wonderful! We got to chat with many interesting people who have lived in San Diego for years! What can be more fun? The house is full of character and in a spectacular setting. It is on top of a canyon, overlooking a lot of greenery. Sunset is beautiful from there. We were there for three days of job interviews, spent quite some time in the living room or at the dining table or in the garden preparing for the interviews or working. Absolutely wonderful environment! Her dogs are very friendly, cute, and not at all aggressive. We have always been able to park right in front of the house. We would love stay there again!
We loved the house full of art, both Deirdre's work and things she had collected or received as gifts. It's a great location, an easy walk into Hillcrest, a little bit farther to the farmers market or Balboa Park, but you can take the free park tram from the north west end of the park to the museum area. I'm a "color junkie" and I felt I had met my match.
Staying at Deirdre's house was the highlight of my trip to San Diego. She was an very interesting, kind, host. She was helpful with anything I needed during my stay and we had the chance to have a good conversation, although sadly I was away much of the time at a conference. The room and bathroom were perfect for my stay. Her samoyeds, chow-chow and cats are incredibly nice.
The neighborhood the house is in is the best in the entire town, with the greatest view and gardens, and it is walking distance to Hillcrest, the park, and the interesting canyons and bridges that run through this part of the city. There is parking on the street and several buses run frequently from 1st, 2nd, 3rd avenues etc.
I will definitely stay at Deirdre's again when I return to San Diego!
Deidre's home is full of color and personality with amazing gardens and views of the city.
It was a pleasure to stay with Dierdre.. She was very hospitable, warm, and welcoming. She was very helpful in pointing us towards different attractions. Her pets were very friendly. If you're looking for a place to relax with a lot of style and a beautiful view, we highly recommend staying at Dierdra's wonderful house.
Response from Deirdre:
I enjoyed all of you, too. I hope to meet you again someday.
