This place was really special. Clean, cute and right next to ocean!
If you're looking for a no hassle, fun place to relax and chill in, then I reccommend Kelvin Passfiled's deluxe little hideaway! We stayed below, but there is a larger unit we will rent next time that's upstairs. Enjoy everyone and be sure to check out the snorkeling at Black Rock!
Ive known Kelvin and his family since 2001 and have stayed with them in various locations around the world. He and his family are well travelled and knowledgeable, honest, hard working and have always been excellent hosts. He is an excellent member of the Airbnb community as he in his life has exemplified the adventurous and curious spirit of those who like to stay outside the hotel world.
Kelvin is a really respectful, honest person, with a passionate interest in environmental sustainability and education. He is really friendly and open and has a keen interest in travel. I am happy to highly recommend Kelvin and his family as both guests and hosts - and definitely recommend their property as a great place to stay!
Our family spent 8 days at Kelvin's wonderful house on the beach at Rarotonga. In the season, the perfect home for whale watching. We rented all three bedrooms, two upstairs and one in a self contained flat downstairs ( so we effectively had two kitchens and two bathrooms). Two people can sleep per room. All linen was provided and quite a range of cooking utensils, plates etc in the kitchen. Kelvin collected us from the airport late on a Saturday night and took us to buy groceries on the way home. On Sundays all of Rarotonga is closed - very hard to buy any groceries on a Sunday there. But the upside is there is a church across the road and no matter what your beliefs, a visit for a service their is a must - the singing is wonderful. A washing machine, line, pegs, soap powder is all provided let us keep on top of all washing. Snorkels and flippers also provided - Black Rock is the best snorkeling area ( near the airport) . We were enchanted by the hens, roosters and their baby chickens. We had two families of chicks hatch during our stay. Poultry is free range around the whole of Rarotonga and Kelvin had 5 families of hens who had decided his home was great to live. We were also enchanted with his neighbors two dogs and cat. The cat completely ignored the chickens and baby chicks, the dogs actively protected the chickens. All a source of constant entertainment. Take books and make yourselves comfortable on the spacious and well appointed veranda's - one at the front of the house facing the ocean, and one at the back facing the mountains - read and be entertained by the animals. bonus is the animals eat all the scraps - nothing gets wasted. Kelvin visited often to check we were okay and to deliver Banana's and Pawpaws. we also picked Pawpaws from trees in the garden and coconuts. Kelvin and family also took my son to laser force - like paint ball but pain free and Kelvins daughters took my son to a nightclub. We all came home very relaxed. Thank you Kelvin and family.
