My main goal was to visit the Taj mahal but in the proces i also wanted to visit Miss Rita and the colonel , i wanted to experience Indian livestyle within a family, their house is so welcoming and i liked how its decorated, i want to thank Rita so Much for something she knows what she did for me, thank you is not enough, big hug lillo to the both of you
I spended a very wonderful time with Sharma , Rita and other two guests from CA. Thanks very much for Sharma's picking up at Agra Fort Station. Good talk, delicious meal, clean room are the highlights of this house.
I am very touched Sharma invited us to a local dance performance and had dinner out in a very good restaurant .
Though we went to sleep very late that day, Rita got up at 5 o'clock in the next morningto prepare breakfast for me.
I will recommend to my friends.
Thanks Danny, indeed it was our pleasure having you with us. Hope you remember your promise of visiting us again with your family. Looking forward to hosting you again. Rita
Staying with Colonel and Rita Sharma was like staying with family! They were so attentive to our needs and were always present in case we needed something. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable and the meals they prepared for us were delicious! I would certainly recommend this home stay for anyone who wants home comforts and wants to avoid the anonymity of a generic hotel.
Will, thanks a ton. You are anytime welcome, we look forward to your next India visit, hope that happens soon. Rita
Staying with Colonel & Mrs Sharma has been one of the highlights of our holiday in India.
Colonel Sharma met us at the railway station and drove us to his home - about 15 minutes by car from the centre of Agra. Over tea and homemade cakes Colonel Sharma and his wife Rita helped us to plan our itinerary. During our two day stay we shared two delicious meals as well as breakfasts and afternoon tea, all prepared and served by our hosts who made us feel very welcome.
We would recommend staying with Colonel and Mrs Sharma as a wonderful introduction to India and the Indian way of life.
Rita and the Colonel are so helpful and welcoming and warm, we really felt like their children!
A very comfortable stay with a lovely couple. I had come with 2 other friends from out of town and Col. and Aunty's recommendation for food was outstanding. They treated us as if we were their children which was a joy. If you have a few days in Agra, it's a better option than a hotel which is more impersonal, however if you're in and out quickly in Agra, then location wise this wouldn't be ideal, although Colonel Sharma will come himself to pick you up wherever you're coming from.
Nonetheless an awesome experience with some amazing hosts.
it was really a feeling of staying in home, Our train was 3 hours delayed, but Colonel still met us at the platform at that midnight. and Rita waited us at home. The house with a guarden is so beautiful and full of artistic decoration. our room is spacious and comfortable, and most important, it is very clean without any dust. there are new white bedspread, very clean blankets and pillows. the house is located in a very quiet and safty area, it is not far away from Taj Mahal, Rita arranged a tutu for me and it only take 15mins to get there from home. Colonel and Rita are all with gentle disposition, and they are really kind, they treat us as their families. They helped us more than they should do, more than we hoped from them. if I have a chance to return to india, I will go back to my home there.
Something else I'd like to mention is the lofty couple and their food, they are really worth to be discovered.(their storys &delicious indian diet) . Best choice of Agra's accommodation!it is much more than what you pay!
This will be the easiest review ever! We had the best time at this Air B&B. We were made to feel like old friends after 5 minutes. They both are truly kind, caring people. There home is clean and had more amenities than a lot of hotels. They also gave us a chance to see so of the items they collected over the years. Oh, if they have a food offer for supper, take it! Amazing dishes.
We wish we would have spent a few days just with them.
Thanks for the good words of appreciation they mean a lot when coming from experienced travellers like you and more you yourself being wonderful hosts . Thanks once again for the encouraging words.
Staying with the delightful Sharma's was wonderful. We were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived with chai tea and a warm a friendly chat with colonel Sharma. The house is beautifully decorated with so many different artefacts and books to look at, all with a different story to tell. The food prepared by Rita was amazing and we were truly spoilt with her home cooking. The house is situated within the army barracks of Agra near to the Taj which was only about 10min drive away. Rita arranged all our transport everywhere so we had nothing to worry about. They recommended and booked a show for us which was about the Taj story which was great and we would have never of known about it if we hadn't of been staying with them. We really did have a wonderful time and were sad to leave! Cannot wait to see them both again!
Hi Samantha the pleasure was all ours. Thanks for the kind words. We too looking forward to grabbing the first available opportunity of meeting you both. Rita
Well what can I say...except that Rita and the Colonel are my new Indian parents!
My friend Tina and I had a wonderful welcome and stayed in a really comfortable room with a hot shower.
Rita cooked us dinner and breakfast which was really tasty Indian food.
Nothing was too much trouble for Rita and the Colonel (mum and dad), we went sari shopping and had great street food with them.
I would definitely recommend them for your stay in Agra, they made our trip very special :)
“The best part of traveling is to find unexplored territory in the most explored”.
Agra by virtue of being home to one of the Seven Wonders also skyrockets on the graph of tourism. However it is not the Taj that will pull me towards the city of love but, the very warmth of this home which welcomes you with an open embrace, even when the temperatures outside may decide to dip to an all time low.
Architecture, they say, plays an important role in the building of houses, ‘yes indeed’, however it is most compellingly evident that what makes this house a home is careful nurturing, considerate weeding and an uninhibited sprinkling of love and understanding. It is a home built with care, ensuring even the quietest corners, beam with ‘aloha’, the moment your eye meets them. The walls are adorned with beautiful paintings, each of which pulsates in their own unique yet unifying way. The décor is a voyage in itself, interweaving a beautiful tapestry of the essence of India. The comforting chitchat of the leaves in the garden awakens mindfulness and meditative silence.
You may even encounter a beautifully tendered, enlightening conversation as you walk through the gallery of vast experiences and varied travels of the hosts.
The hosts who truly and purely personify the essence of the Sanskrit verse, “Athiti Devo Bhava”, "To be the one for whom the Guest is God".
I feel blessed to have stayed here, and am looking forward to immersing myself in the magic, at the first opportunity.
If I dream of building a home, it would be such, but more than that I pray to have a welcoming heart that opens the door to all, providing a restful solace and prompting a peaceful journey within.
Forewarning: After staying here you may gain weight relishing the sumptuous Indian cuisine, especially the dessert course. And also that you may feel an unstoppable urge to extend your vacation ☺
The place oozes warmth and love. The hosts go out of their way to make the visitors feel comfortable and at home. The house is situated at a posh and quiet location very near Taj Mahal. The rooms are tasteful and lively. Truly awesome experience!
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Sharma,
It was a pleasure to be at your beautiful house.
The rooms look really beautiful, amazing hospitality, great food..and the best smiles that I have ever got.
Be rest assured that at anytime I plan to visit Agra again I will for sure make a booking at your place.
