I grew up in the suburbs of DC and moved to Charlottesville, Virginia to attend UVA. I had a bit of an epiphany about 3 years ago and decided I needed to pursue my passion for baking and was able to get a part-time job at the best bakery in town which turned into my full-time job. I get to make delicious cakes and pastries and bring home artisan baked bread every day. My roommates love/hate me for it. I've been saving up for pastry school (in Chicago) ever since and am getting really close to being able to attend.
Besides baking, I'm pretty into feminist and queer theory, politics, and, when the opportunity arises, activism. Other than that, I lead a pretty low key lifestyle. Most nights, I stay home reading or watching Netflix - currently obsessed with Game of Thrones and Doctor Who - and I sometimes go out with my roommates.
I don't get to do too much traveling, but I love going to NYC when I can. I'd really like to live there at some point in my life. I went to Germany (Freiberg, Berlin, Dresden, Nuremberg) in high school and my awesome host family took me to see the Bavarian village where my grandpa grew up.
I'm a really courteous guest and don't typically stay out late even when I'm traveling. I'm quiet and try to be as clean and tidy as possible. I don't usually have meticulous plans when I travel, so I'd really like to stay with hosts who can give me tips on where to get good food and interesting things to check out during my stay. I've had really great experiences with airbnb hosts in Brooklyn and Chicago!
