Like a dream come true! For us the three days we spent in the little Bijoux house were among the highlights of our trip. We loved doing some yoga and then breakfast at the Yellow Flower Café, which are both only minutes away. We spend our evenings reading on the porch and watching the fireflies above the rice fields. Ubud Centre is a longer walk or a short cab ride away, which suited us fine, since we preferred the rice fields over the shops and restaurants. Overal it was a pretty magical stay and we hope to come back some time in the future!
My wife and I had a charming 3-night stay in Noelle's cottage. We went straight there after landing in Bali and it was an excellent start to our trip.
Their driver, Wayan, was at the airport waiting for us. He was an excellent driver (not too fast or aggressive) and was super friendly (great English).
The cottage has a very zen vibe that sets the tone for a very relaxing stay. It's funny... I was initially worried it would be too hot or that there would be too many bugs. Despite being fairly basic, I was really pleased to find the place spotlessly clean, no bugs to speak of (amazing), and the heat wasn't a bother because of the windows and the breeze (there is also a fan for the evenings). This is a bit like what we'd call "glamping" in the states (glamorous camping).
The staff (two ladies) were accessible when we needed laundry and the room was always spruced up when we came back from exploring.
It was a magical stay.
Though I did not meet Noelle during my stay, I had an incredible time staying in the Bijoux House. There is definitely that quiet cabin experience in Bali rice fields with close proximity to a bustling Ubud. You will find yourself supported by a lovely staff of maids and a driver, and the space itself is clean yet rustic in a wonderful way. I was treated like a guest of honor and Wayan is a champion for picking me up and dropping me off so late at night.
I cannot recommend this place enough!!! Bring your mosquito spray, as this is a tropical environment after all ;)
Beautiful small House in a rice field. Also the Yellow Cafe next to the house is amazing. Definetely recommend this place for everyone who wants to relax.
This is my favorite place in the world to stay and has the nicest staff. Made and Nyoman made me feel right at home, as usual, and the Gecco and I had our daily conversations. Miss Kitty and I became good friends and she came over to visit often. I look forward to my next stay in the wonderful Bijoux house.
A wonderful place. Everything was awesome. In the morning the noise of the crickets is a little hard at least at this time of the year. But this is nature:) I would like to come again!!
Pondok Bijoux is by far one of the most incredible places I've ever stayed in! This quaint little cottage which is absolutely beautiful inside looks right onto a quiet rice paddy with very little foot traffic so its quite private. You wake up to the sounds of the birds and fall asleep to the sounds of the crickets and frogs, its a nature lovers paradise! (It's not as loud as its been described in some reviews) Its also right round the corner from the Yellow Flower Cafe which is fantastic for breakfast and lunch, especially with the view over Ubud! It's clean with quality bedding & towels and has a fantastic shower. The kitchen area has everything you need including a little bar fridge and bottled drinking water is provided. Its location in Penestanan is ideal as it's only 6 minutes walk from Ubud's main street but its far enough away from the hussel and bussel of the main town. There are always taxi drivers ready to take you where you need to go at the bottom of them too, whether it's in a car or on a scooter, your choice. I see that some people have complained about the Campuhan stairs that lead up to the cottage but its not actually that bad, if you suffer with arthritis in the knees - yes - but if you're a little unfit like me its not as bad as it looks. Besides the exercise makes for great looking legs and a firmer bum! Although I'd advise that you do pack a head torch as at night it can be a little bit dark on the pathway in certain sections. There is also a large shopping centre 8mins up the road where you can buy pretty much everything you need for your stay such as fresh milk, butter, instant coffee, shampoo etc. It's ideal for one person or a couple and I would highly recommend it.. It's an absolute gem and I will certainly book there again :)
Beautiful cottage in a stunning location.
Beautiful house in a ricefield with a perfect veranda and superlovely staff. I loved the area, you can spend many days doing
yoga, walks, coffees, no need to drive in into ubud. Thank you for this relaxing time.
Where should I start describing the blissfulness of this little cottage. I don't know what I liked best, waking up together with all the birds and butterflies in the garden and watching the sunrise, or the singing of the crickets and frogs in the evening while enjoying a magnificent sunset? I loved to be surrounded by the nature, in one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Ubud area and yet be very close to many shops and restaurants. I enjoyed all my endless hours on the veranda and stayed for more than three weeks, as I'm a writer and had to finish my book. The inspiring, tranquil place, and the fact that Nyoman and Made took such good care of me by doing my laundry, the dishes, making my bed and so on, absolutely helped a lot. Also Ken and Noelle were very helpful, for instance, I had asked for a slightly higher table to write on and a few hours later it was all fixed! I'm sure I will keep coming back to this place every time I'll ga to Bali.
Actually Zen, Noelle's daughter, spent two nights with me in Waikiki. She was lovely, respectful, entertaining, and a perfect guest, curious and gracious. Would love to have her return!!
Khun Noelle is a lovely beautiful lady. After met her, it feel like i am take care the local guest because she familiar to this area. So, thank you very much for choosing my little simply room to take care your stay one night in bangkok this time. ^_^ khob khun krub.
I'm a long time friend of Ken's for over 20 years but I have recently had the pleasure of being Noelle and Ken's guest in the charming Bijoux Rice Cottage. And really it was like living in a painting. The setting is beautiful, muted sounds of the rice workers during the day and at night the gecko speak to each other. We based ourselves with Ken and Noelle and took day trips to different occasions we had to attend in Bali returning for the peace and serenity of this little place in paradise. Ken took us sightseeing and introduced us to off the track experiences. Things you have to know to find.
I thoroughly enjoy spending time with this couple as their interests and passions mean the time is always inspirational and entertaining.
Noelle has created a piece of heaven for anyone lucky enough to stay at her magical Bijoux. I would highly recommend it as I know anyone will love it. I certainly did and will stay again.
Noel and Ken have created a little paradise .
Although I am a friend my view may sound bias but I can assure you in reality the homes are even better than the pictures .The location is the best and you will definately want to go back again .
