Local nurse into health and wellness; there's a garden in the back most of the year. I like a serene, calm environment that promotes good healthy fun! Enjoy ocean activities, and I know little secret places that I'll share with you when you come. :)

Laretta and Steve were awesome. My loved one was visiting from Bermuda and they welcomed us both from the moment we set foot in the door. The room was much larger than we thought. They let us use the kitchen, provided free homemade fresh food and snacks from their garden and trees out back and we enjoyed the other guests as well. They had plenty suggestions as to where to enjoy the area and Steve took some of us snorkeling. What a way to spend a vacation. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks so much again. We will be back.
I booked this for my daughter and her partner - Laretta was very kind and accommodating in understanding our slightly unusual circumstances. They made this comment about the room:
We really enjoyed our stay at the Banana Patch. The hosts are wonderful and Laretta gave us great tips about the area. It was nice to be away from the busyness in Waikiki and we found Banana Patch a great base for exploring the island. With Laretta's advice and borrowed snorkels we were able to swim with sea turtles which was a highlight for us. We were up before sunrise most mornings so we didn't spend alot of time in our room, but it was very comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Room 2 is close to the road, so light sleepers may wish to request a room further back in the building (there are several available) but this wasn't an issue for us. We had a great time and only wish we could've stayed longer.
Words cannot describe how incredible Loreta and Steve are! It is our first time with airbnb and it was just incredible! I celebrated my birthday while I was there and Loreta took us on an incredible tour of the island and really made me feel special on my birthday! We even got to observe some whales, which was amazing!! Steven took us on an incredible snorkel out to see a turtle cleaning station and that was really fun because we saw many turtles! They were huge! Loreta and Steve's property right on the country side of the island is right near the beach. We snorkeled there almost every day!She has many fruit trees and she shared her incredible fruit with us, which was priceless and much appreciated! Wished I could have stayed longer ! It is great!! Would definitely want to go back and would recommend to anyone!
I had a great stay at the Banana Patch. The house was clean and comfortable. There's fresh fruit in the backyard. You can meet and hang out with other cool fellow travelers. I also like that the neighborhood is in a less populated part of the island. It's about an hour drive to Waikiki if you need to go that way.
Laretta was so sweet. She surprised me with my favorite local snack one morning and she bought a cake for another guest's birthday. Steve also personally took us snorkeling to Turtle Station which was amazing.
Thank you again Laretta and Steve for everything. I highly recommend this place.
Laretta & Steve were wonderful hosts! They were extremely accommodating and supplied everything we could possibly need. Papaya trees galore! We ate fresh papaya every day! Organic swiss chard & bok choy in the garden! Very comfy bed with thick topper. House set up is perfect--2 kitchens & 2 living room areas, one upstairs & one downstairs. Good sight-seeing, hiking & beaches in the area. Big turtles on beach nearby. Laretta showed us around & we would have never found the hidden spots without her. Good WIFI.
Laretta and Steve were great hosts. Snorkeling gear, beach towels and fresh fruit for breakfast was provided. In addition, she shows all the guests around for the good places and beaches. The rooms are very cosy and clean. Not a touristic area, few restaurants (you need a car), but interesting nature to see. We enjoyed it!
I had such a great time staying at the Banana Patch! I actually stayed in room #3 because of some last minute changes, but everything was very nice. The room was just the right size and the bed was very comfortable. The view from the room was breathtaking as well. It was nice to sit in the garden and read or just relax. The jacuzzi was perfect after a long day of walking or hiking.
I really liked staying in the Waianae area. It's much less touristy and I felt right at home. The furthest you're going to drive to any of the tourist destinations is a maximum of 40 min (unless you get caught in traffic;).
This was my first Airbnb experience and it won't be my last! I've met some lifelong friends by staying at the Banana Patch! :)
Laretta and Steve made us feel like at home and treated us like close friends. Further the house is very clean, our room was tidy and had everything as promised. Furthermore they were around most of the time that we had some interesting chats evening after a long day around tea cups prepared by Laretta. Thanks guys
Couldn't ask for anything more. First time using AirBnb and I hope all future experiences are this good. Loretta and Steve were great hosts, they wouldn't have all the positive reviews they do if it wasn't exactly as advertised. Thank you both for the wonderful stay.
Steve and Laretta are the nicest people you will meet. They simply love to make your stay as perfect as possible. When we arrived, Steve took us around the area to see what there was to experience. Laretta did the same thing a couple of days after, and then we knew about every little thing there was. Included in the stay is free rent og snorkling equipment, surfboards, Beach towels, kitchen materials, jacuzzi, and much more. Things that really makes your stay alot easier. The rooms are nice as well as kitchen, garden and living rooms. The area is great and the locals really sweet. All in all, the perfect place to enjoy to West coast of O'ahu.
