Local nurse into health and wellness; there's a garden in the back most of the year. I like a serene, calm environment that promotes good healthy fun! Enjoy ocean activities, and I know little secret places that I'll share with you when you come. :)

I felt very much at home with Laretta & Steve.
The house is very comfortable, right near the beach.
You've got a great kitchen, beautiful garden, lovely living room and a number of cuddly cats to welcome you.
You can feel that Laretta and Steve love hosting people, as they make you feel at home.
I got to enjoy fresh papaya, starfruit and delicious greens from their garden every day! They also helped me get around as I didn't have a car, and showed me some of the nearby sight-seeing spots.
We are happy to remove the memory foam toppers on any of our beds if a guest finds it "too soft" - its an easy fix...just ask :)
Laretta and Steve were great hosts. They had tons of information about activities we could do on the island and they even had some videos to watch showing some of the hikes. The room was exactly what it looks like in the pictures. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable. There was a closet and a couple of dressers to put your things in if you wanted to unpack your clothes and stuff. They also let us use their snorkeling gear which was great. There were other guests staying there while we were there but everyone was very quiet and considerate. This was our first experience with Airbnb and it was a great one.
Loretta and Steve were absolutely helpful in every way. Loretta showed us around the area and shared her favorite hidden local beaches with us as well as restaurant recommendations. She has beach towels, chairs, snorkeling masks, fins, and water shoes to borrow for exploring. The house was full of other travelers from all over if you felt like being social, but is also spacious enough to escape to the garden, back patio, or your big room to relax after a day in the sun. The stay was so nice we even extended it for a few weeks! Thanks again Steve and Loretta. :)
Clean and comfortable! The option to run the AC is nice but I only had to use it once on a hot afternoon when I was working in the room. Otherwise, the ocean breeze is lovely so I had the windows open all the time! Laretta is a great host and I went on from this booking to make another with her for a longer stay. I love having the fresh papayas from her papaya trees and herbs from the garden!
This was my first visit to Waianae and I have fallen in love with it. The variety of the beaches is amazing and the wildlife is fantastic! I've been snorkeling with sea turtles, seen whales blowing and breaching and got within 20 feet of napping monk seals.
Laretta and Steven - we could find any words. Warmth and always very helpful. The accommondation was very clean, light and comfortable. It was a big pleasure staying there. Although it is close to the freeway it does not bother at night. Every morning fresh and free papayas from Laretta' s garden. The nickeltour shows you secret beaches and POI. Mahalo again and warmest regards from Germany Markus and Petra
I had the best stay at Laretta's place. The master bedroom is massive compared to what you would pay in a hotel. Everything was super clean, sunny and bright. The view from my room was a amazing - a big mountain you can hike. Both Laretta and Steve we're welcoming and super hospitable. Steve even leant me his go pro when I went diving and Laretta's tour of the west side was awesome. Turtle Beach a must do. Waianea is a little ghetto but that's part of its charm - great beaches with barely any tourists. Bliss! I'll definitely be coming back
Laretta and Steve were awesome. My loved one was visiting from Bermuda and they welcomed us both from the moment we set foot in the door. The room was much larger than we thought. They let us use the kitchen, provided free homemade fresh food and snacks from their garden and trees out back and we enjoyed the other guests as well. They had plenty suggestions as to where to enjoy the area and Steve took some of us snorkeling. What a way to spend a vacation. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks so much again. We will be back.
I booked this for my daughter and her partner - Laretta was very kind and accommodating in understanding our slightly unusual circumstances. They made this comment about the room:
We really enjoyed our stay at the Banana Patch. The hosts are wonderful and Laretta gave us great tips about the area. It was nice to be away from the busyness in Waikiki and we found Banana Patch a great base for exploring the island. With Laretta's advice and borrowed snorkels we were able to swim with sea turtles which was a highlight for us. We were up before sunrise most mornings so we didn't spend alot of time in our room, but it was very comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Room 2 is close to the road, so light sleepers may wish to request a room further back in the building (there are several available) but this wasn't an issue for us. We had a great time and only wish we could've stayed longer.
Words cannot describe how incredible Loreta and Steve are! It is our first time with airbnb and it was just incredible! I celebrated my birthday while I was there and Loreta took us on an incredible tour of the island and really made me feel special on my birthday! We even got to observe some whales, which was amazing!! Steven took us on an incredible snorkel out to see a turtle cleaning station and that was really fun because we saw many turtles! They were huge! Loreta and Steve's property right on the country side of the island is right near the beach. We snorkeled there almost every day!She has many fruit trees and she shared her incredible fruit with us, which was priceless and much appreciated! Wished I could have stayed longer ! It is great!! Would definitely want to go back and would recommend to anyone!
I had a great stay at the Banana Patch. The house was clean and comfortable. There's fresh fruit in the backyard. You can meet and hang out with other cool fellow travelers. I also like that the neighborhood is in a less populated part of the island. It's about an hour drive to Waikiki if you need to go that way.
Laretta was so sweet. She surprised me with my favorite local snack one morning and she bought a cake for another guest's birthday. Steve also personally took us snorkeling to Turtle Station which was amazing.
Thank you again Laretta and Steve for everything. I highly recommend this place.
