This was a perfect place to stay for me. I had to travel to Hawaii by myself to see my sick aunt. Lynne was such a terrific host, always available by text if I had a question. The reviews I read before I came were right on the money. This was the first time I had ever chosen to share a living situation with a host. But Lynne is very considerate of privacy and gave me the space I needed. Her homey living room with double futon is very comfortable and the place is clean and neat. I enjoyed getting up in the morning making coffee and sitting out on her for veranda and watching Honolulu wake up. I would walk only a couple blocks to the beach for swimming. She is a very nice gal, good conversationalist, one night I invited her out and we had dinner together at Dukes. I felt safe at her place with the security elevator that requires a key. I actually left during my stay to island hop over to visit friends in Kauai for 2 days during my stay and just took my overnight bag, when I returned all of my things were right where I left them. Thank you Lynne for sharing your home with me I will come again! Mahalo!
My wife and I needed a place to stay for 1 night in Waikiki, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience than staying at Lynne's place. She wasn't home when we arrived, but it was easy to get in and get comfortable. We dropped of our bags and immediately walked to the beach. Her place is right down the street from the beach- you can see it from her living room. We felt safe walking around after dark and really enjoyed our stay. We didn't meet Lynn until we were getting ready to leave- she was very pleasant and kind. We felt right at home and highly recommend this airbnb! The apartment was clean and cozy. She provided beach towels and other beach gear. Sure beats the $400-500/night hotels right down the street!
You can scarcely beat this location for the price.
If you want to surf, the beach is RIGHT THERE!--the shop, one block up, towards bch, on left side, best rental price, (though you should always negotiate a better price whenever/wherever you can.)
Wanna shop, within walking distance too--Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, duty-free, and (farther away) Ala Moana-but the 8 or 42 Bus can get you there.--
Or walk to any fancy hotel to have a (email hidden).--have cheap drinks: $3 beers and $4 mai tais at Wailana Coffee House.--
I wouldn't recommend this place for more than a day or two. And I wouldn't recommend this stay if you want to experience Hawaii, but rather just get the feel of Waikiki. Want a comfortable stay, stay in a hotel. This is just a place to hang your hat and go have fun. It's skimpy on the space and privacy. And you really may miss the comforts of home.
As for the tour, she drives you around the entire perimeter of the island and you get opportunities to snap some amazing photos, but you never get to 'soak in' what each stop has to offer and she has some slightly jaded perspective on how some spots are overrated and not special. To me, all of Hawaii is special and it would have been cool to hear the history...which she doesn't provide. I would recommend renting a car, mapping out the locales you've heard of, finding them for yourself, and truly experiencing them for a greater adventure. You can take the bus too. 40 and 42 take you to Pearl Harbor (1hr20min), the 22 and 23 take you to Diamond Head(20min) and Hanauma Bay(45min).
Lynne is nice and cool and you definitely get a primo spot.
Lynne was super easy going and accommodated us greatly! Made sure we were able to access her place while she was at work and made us feel completely welcome. Thank you!
Lynne was a very warm, welcoming host. Her place was comfortable and very close to the beach and a delicious Korean BBQ spot. We were well situated for experiencing Waikiki, and the rest of Honolulu was just an easy bike ride away. Thanks Lynne!
Lynn's place was very comfortable and convenient. I stayed three nights by myself and the room was perfect size to me as well as bed. She also offered kitchen, plates, utensils, serials, fridge, drinks, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, body lotion, beach towels, snorkel (website hidden)s and body boards. Oh and yes, the balcony with ocean view! I enjoyed beers there.
There is bathroom between Lynn's bedroom and living room which secures your privacy.
Lynn is a cool lady. Very respectful and helpful, knows where to go and check.
I was very grateful when she let me stay till evening on my last day as my flight was 9PM.
Thanks to her, I fully enjoyed my stay in Waikiki. Thanks Lynn, you rock!
Her apartment is relatively small but cozy. The location is unbeatable! I saw Lynne only for 5mins but she is laid back and cool. I highly recommend this apt!
Lynne was a fantastic host and we highly recommend staying here if you want to avoid the touristy and costly big chain hotels in Waikiki. Prior to arriving, Lynne communicated with us the details of her apartment and how to get there from the airport, which made everything so easy and manageable. Her apartment is cosy, clean and only one block from the beach! Lynne offered us some great advise on where to check out and eat and also had snorkel and bodyboard gear to offer. Lynne was super friendly and overall we had a great 2 night stay at her apartment and will definitely stay here again when we're in Hawaii next time!
Staying at Lynne's place was a great beginning of our trip in Hawaii. The apartment is comfortable, clean and colourful. Also, it is conveniently located close to the main beach and to many restaurants/cafés. Most importably, Lynne was very helpful before our arrival and during our stay. Get this place if you can!
